K2K Alliance is offering the total mas immersion concept to their masqueraders; don't just play, become the mas.
Apart from having access to makeup artists to recreate the looks from the website they are now offering their masqueraders the choice of having their hair styled in lieu of wearing a headpiece.
See the hair options and get more details in the photos below:
SALT launches their debut Carnival 2012 Band entitled "2012" - The Living Prophecies" on Saturday 26 November 2011 at the Carib Playboyz Pan Theatre; see flyer for more information:
As has been the case for the past 3 years - the UWI fete takes us to an exotic location. In 2010 we visited 'China', in 2011 we danced at 'Bollywood' and this year we visit the fictional African location of - Zangalewa.
Zangalewa, is the title of a 1986 hit song by Cameroonian band, Golden Sounds. The song was such a hit for Golden Sounds that they eventually changed their name to Zangalewa, as well. The song pays tribute to soldiers and sharpshooters, as most of Golden Sounds' band members were in the Cameroonian Army.
The song is very widely known and familiar throughout most of Africa as a marching song. Popular in Columbia due to the influence of African DJs, Shakira's World Cup anthem, Waka Waka (This time for Africa) also samples Zangalewa's chorus.
At UWI Fete's, Zangalewa, they are proud to host Kes the Band, Dil-e-Nadan, Karma, Roy Cape & DJ Crosby. Look forward to the now-standard, 2-stage setup, secure parking and taxi service. UWI Fete is also introducing TWO meal servings. Join them for Brunch from 12noon to 2pm and Lunch from 2pm to 6pm. Tickets are priced at $850.00TT.
For those of you who may not be aware Rosalind Gabriel is presenting an adult mas band for Carnival 2012 , presentation is called "Xante Trinbago Xante".

Many of you have written asking about getting corsets decorated here are two by Akin Ross and Creative Creations for a masquerader in YUMA's "Final Fantasy" ; she said she has a hard choice deciding which to wear on Carnival Monday and which for Carnival Tuesday.
Both Creative Creations and Akin Ross can be found on Facebook, some more examples of other work are displayed below. From decorated bras, headbands and underwear/boyshorts they have you covered for Carnival extras:
104 Days to Carnival and lots of behind the scenes action is already taking place among the popular bands. Sources have told me that a delegation from both Fantasy and YUMA are in China overseeing materials for their costumes and that both bands already have Monday Wear options in gear.
Also heard rumous that the band Project Runway Winner Anya Ayoung Chee is designing a possible 2012 section for is NOT Island People, wondering if this congratulatory note on both TRIBE and Bliss Facebook Fan Pages is a hint of things to come:
And finally, just when you thought the last of all new bands for Carnival 2012 have launched (Fantasy, Explosion, Sobeit) along comes a new one called "Salt - Cure For The Mas", looking forward to the launch and revelation of more costumes:
SALT – Cure for D’Mas Carnival 2012 presentation will be “2012” - the living prophecies.
The band is designed as a ‘frontline’ masquerade band. The costumes are elaborate and creative with a dramatic flair reminiscent of theatrical mas, but with an attractive, modern point of view.
DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND WE ARE INTRODUCING A NEW SECTION WHICH WILL BE AVALABLE FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION.ALL OTHER SECTIONS CAN ONLY BE REGISTERED AT THE MASCAMP. http://www.hartscarnival.com/index.htm
Here are some photos of a wire bra done for Tribe's Dubai section by Designing Daryl. As you know TRIBE does not offer a wire bra option for Dubai so it's nice that there are designers that one can contract to get work done such as this piece. He assures me that he will be sharing other pictures of his work once his clients have given the approval for them to be shown.
Designing Daryl is taking orders for Trinidad Carnival 2012, in addition I also heard that he is also working hard to heat up the scenes in the North American Carnivals with prototypes already DONE!!
If you would like a customized item for next year you are free to email him at designingDaryl@gmail.com.
Red Devil Female Section from the2012 presentation "When Darkness Falls"-MAS Jumbies J'Ouvert 2012. Internet band launch is set for 12th November, 2011.
