I just realised I did not give my review on Pulse 8's costumes. Overall I think the costumes will appeal to Poison fans, since to me they look like all the designers of the better sections of Poison came together and gave the costumes an upgrade though they certainly infused ideas from old Poison costume designs. I will break it down section by section.
Wicked Waitress
I really like the shade of purple, usually I do not like purple costumes but this one appeals to me. It is quite skimpy, I guess that's the wicked part, however that boa-backpack needs to be retired since it has been making an appearance at Carnival, every year for a good few years.
Summer Passion
I am not feeling the hat on the backline costume, I prefer the regular headpiece though it's the same headband with feathers to the side that the other sections also carry. The shade of blue is pretty, the beads used are nice, I like the necklace but the headpiece on the frontline could be more lavish and again, I don't really like the backpiece of the frontline.
Mai Tai
Reminds me of Sonia Mack's costume from this year, but is still cute.
Copacabana
I am not liking this costume for some reason, maybe it's the gold lame cape or the headpiece or the beads on the bra, but I just don't like it.
Margarita Madness
I like the colours of the costumes, I just think more could have been done with the headpiece and get rid of the boas.Margarita Madness and Mai Tai all use the large sequins so they both have a similar look to me.
Melon Fever
Get rid of the fabric or put some to the back, I don't like that the back is bare. Also, this costume has the same beads that they used on TRIBE's Jean and Dinah belt, and you know what my friend said about those beads, they look cheap.
Sapphire Ice
I really this costume, if I had to choose a section to play with the frontline would be one of two that appealed to me. I like the colour, the beads on the belt and, the small backpack that's easy to jump up with. The Aquamena beads hanging on the belt look sparse, and the backline suffers from that headband headpiece that also infected other sections.
Rum Rum Sweet Rum
Hmm, I don't like this costume too much, again I don't like the gold....it's too shiny or the shade does not blend withthe beads..I don't know can't put my finger on it. And the frontline's backpiece is very "koskel" with all that gold tinsel. Thebelt is the tiniest belt I have seen yet on a costume.
Blue Lagoon
Don't like it.Like Melon fever why is the bottom bare when the front is covered, this is not Angelfish. And I like a headpiece so that headband is a no no, with a name like "Blue Lagoon" this costume had so much potential.
Mojito
This is the other section that I like alot, the brown/green combo works for me and I love the frontline's backpiece that looks like it is made from "cocoyea flex."I like that it is different from anything else in the band.Peter did a good job with this one even though the fabric reminds me of Mermaid and Warriors.
Antifreeze
Can I be honest here, the belt and bra looks like it came direct from Neckelmann's reminds me of Aprhodite frontline which also looked like it came from Neckelmann's ! Anyways, the overall costume is nice, I like the backpack and I think it will be a hot seller.
Sex on the Beach
It's nice, the backline backpiece was done in Poison AND TRIBE for 2006 so I was a bit surprised to see it back again and in the same colour as the Poison 2k6 Poison section too booth.
Depth Charge
It's ok.Not too sure I am liking the beading or the headpiece.....I need to look at it a few times again.
Claudia Peagus Section
ahm.................I was expecting alot from Trinidad's self acclaimed haute couture designer, but I was SO not epxecting that this section would be the Imp and Cacti of Pulse 8.
Love Potion #9
Has Poison written all over it...I like it even though it is pushing the sparkly envelope.

I agree the 2 best costumes are Mojito & Sapphire.
Why Wicked waitress looks like my section I played in with Tribe this year (Fire coral)all them feathers coming down yuh back and summer passion looks like Legacy 2k6 Rude Girl.
I think the bands are runnig out of ideas. Cause I find some of Tribe 2K7 looking like 2k6 repeats.
I ain't got my TLC cause I did not send in my ID. So now I am looking to see what Dreamscape coming with, cuase pluse 8 not that impressive.
New Jersey
Alexia why are you not playing with Tribe for 2007. How was your experience in 2006, was it like you expected. Can i get your TLC card, just kidding.
Saucy i hope you dont mind using your blog to get infor from your readers. Thanks in advance
fiestyspirits5, de on de road experience with Tribe was "D' Wltimate Experience, my gripe with them is that the costumes were poorly made (for all that money they charging they should be using gurella glue and reliable hooks on the bras)and the committe need to learn to respect their masqueraders! But if you do not mind yuh costume falling apart and Tribe disrespecting you. By all means them is the band to jump with carnival mon & tue.
With all that gripe I would of still played with them if I did go and get my TLC cause so far I ani't see a band that could beat or come close to being a true all inclusive band come carnival mon & tue!
I have to do like meh friend say and doh study the costume or the committe just play for the experience.
I am sooooooooo not impressed w/ Pulse 8 costumes - I knew it would be the same ole Poison formula. I seeing plenty remixes LOL. The only 1 that I find even slightly interesting is the Mojito - and that's cause the material reminds me of what Peter did for his Tribe Mermaid section this year!
alexia what section did you play with? I had no problems with my costume so I have no gripe with them there but I could understand how that would vex yuh.
Saucy MORNING! De net still dong by me girl, I doh know. I wasn't expecting them kinda ting up here in the 'mudder country'. I eh see none ah dem Pulse 8 pics god so I will reserve judgement. I like how they organise so far and I have good experiences with Poison 'special sections' and Megsy Pegs. So I waiting. Btw, just to let you know, I playing in Nubian this morning.
Tribe refused to give me my tlc card even though i played in 2005 and registered in 2006, but had to sell my costume last minute. They are being too selective. the costumes are just the same anyway. in 05, the security was shitty, the drinks ran out and i had a much better time in 06 with bmfarlane. At least you can go to their mas camp, see a friendly face and see the costumes being made and not glued.
Alexia what do u mean by the committe disrespected u? I curious because someone told me that they were faced with racialism or at least what they percieved to be racialism. I don't agree with the bad custume thing though, did u ever play with another band to be able to make a comparison chic?
serious!..What criteria did they use to refuse u anonymous? Saucy wah going on with the registration?
anon why did they refuse to give you your TLC? My friend was in the same position as you, she played in 2005 registered for 2006 but had to sell her costume when she found out she was pregnant. She sent TRIBE an email explaing that and they gave her a TLC without asking for any picture ID or anything, they just used her information from their database.
Sausy I played in Fire Coral and Kevian I have played with other bands. I'm not saying all their costumes were poorly made just mine and other masqueraders were in the same position.
Kevian they insultated my friend when we went to collect our costumes, they gave her the wrong bra size and when we told them the error was on their part they said well we do not think so cause we do not cater to her bra size anyway. We look at the committe member telling us this; we were in shock that she actually said that, after she realize what she said she told us I did not mean it to sound like that.
Hey thats the business, when they making all that money they do not care about the little people who help them get there cause you know what if I do not play somebody else right there to fill my spot.
But ay ay , I thought they went up to size DDD in bras, and probably even bigger since I saw all sizes of women playing mas with TRIBE, so how she mean they don't cater to her bra size? steups! Give them a little power and it goes to their damn head.
saucy, wicked waitress is really the only one I feeling. Personally, I didnt have a problem wid de TRIBE experience. I played this year - and it was great. To some extent, dey does act "stush" (some of the ppl) - but the crew I wid always ready to bring de vibes...and we always try to find ppl that feeling the same vibe - so we jump like we mad.
hmmm daz good information to note thanks Alexia..hmmp
To Alexia...I am with you in terms of the costume construction. I played in Vinyard of the Deep (2K6)I am a DDD and they "special" made my bra, however I think they made it to "specially fall off" there was no support and I end up having to purchase a matching tube top to wear with my costume. I had another girlfriend play in Fire Coral and she is no where near as big as me and when she jumped on stage her strap came loose and her boobs were exposed (in front the judges no less)so I am with you. I have played with other bands in the past and did not have as many problems with the costumes. For the money that I am willing to pay to have the "Ultimate Tribal Experience" they could work on the structure of the costumes.
wow, sorry to hear some u had issues with the costume construction w/ Tribe. It's strange because I've played w/ them for quite a few yrs (since their Poison days) and never had any trouble w/ the costume falling apart at all. But then again my boobs ent too big (just average size).
