Calling all Jamettes

If you are registered with the section Jamette in TRIBE be prepared for a phone call soon, that is if the mas camp can get ahold of you. Someone sent me an email concerning the corsette option of Jamette and I promptly followed it up with a call to the camp myself, to verify the information I received.

The situation is this, apparently TRIBE is calling those who registered in the CORSETTE option of Jamette to advise that for those needing additional support a strapless bra (of your own) might be needed. Apparently the corsette is made from a spandex fabric with boning to the front, and the ability to lace up and tighten the back BUT there is no cup support. Therefore the corsette does not fit like a "bra" but more like a tight tube top. Looking at the photos that little detail of it having no cups might escape some, but it was one of the first things I noticed when viewing the costume, and when I was considering Jamette I preferred the bra option. Imagine a D cup or DD wearing a tube top bra less, see how uncomfortable that might be, especially jumping around all day?

I think TRIBE is trying to put damage control in place before masqueraders collect their costume and are left fuming when it does not fit the way they expected, hence the reason of calling as many people as they can. Now, honestly, if I were registered for the corsette option thinking that it would fit properly I would be quite upset to get a call informing me otherwise, I mean, the costume is NOT cheap. Possibly some compromise can be reached if you think you will not be happy wearing a bra under the original corsette, maybe taking the bra option instead or having them decorate your own corsette.

So, for those who have not gotten the call and need more clarification on this issue you can email or call TRIBE yourself for more information.

Well yuh see..I glad I bun out that costume from the get go.That bustier would have swallowed up what little breasts I have. For all that money I find that costume was lacking in terms of head /foot pieces.Doh talk for that frill in the back.I say already..my bottom is my best assest and it have to be outside for the Carnival lolol! And how I holding my drink if I have a cigarette lighter in one hand and a mask in the next?? Unacceptable!! And i never really like the appliques they used.
Its a nice costume overall but not my cup of tea.

I actually considered the Jamette costume, but only wid the bra. I don't like corsettes period. I especially like the frill on the bottom, more ting to shake up when i winin, since i don have much bumcy (as u can see) hehehe

If I ordered the Jamette with corset, I'd bring a strapless push-up bra with me anyway, just to get that extra clevage.

At least Tribe is calling them 2 1/2 months in advance instead of waiting say......Carnival Friday.

i had a mind so yuh know! i was telling myself that a real sturdy corsette costs quite a bit of $$, so i figured that they would have went with a cheaper version.

anyways take a bow tribe posse for trying to do in advance damage control.

wasp that might work for smaller boobs, but the ones with an ample bosom might have problem beyond push up..more about staying up.

saucy, that is what i like about you, you get the word out! I myself am playing with island people and i appreciate any news from tnt that you give, whether i agree with you or not! lol

I'm not sure why people think it is such good customer service to be warning maqueraders that their top doesn't provide enough support and that a bra will be needed.

You are paying about $400USD for this experience. I think it should fit. And if it needs a bra, should a bra not be included?
True, its better than showing up carnival Friday and finding this out, but are we so used to being treated so badly, that(what in my opinion is a bear minimum courtesy) should be held up as an example of great service?

does that mean that some corsettes might become available if people don't want to have one anymore.
If so I want one. I saw an opportunity there ah sorry.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

trini in toronto I fully agree with you; at this stage they should not be warning people that the bra does not fit properly especially at that price. It is either they redesign the corsette and add in cups for persons with larger breasts and advise of the change or, if that is now too late, at least offer those persons the bra option for more comfort.

saucy, if it were not for you breaking the news, this would have been a disaster for tribe. some people may be masqueraders playing abroad and may not have been able to be contacted, or even someone in tnt for whatever reason. If you didn't act quickly, would we be talking about tribe the way that you talk about other bands???

I believe it IS good customer service to notify folks if something has gone awry in advance. It was POOR PLANNING on the part of the individuals in charge of this section to select this type of corset without support. They know people are jumping up and down on the road. The ideal mas combination would possess BOTH looks and functionality which failed miserably in this case. I saw this section in TRIBE's booklet, and I wondered where in the BLUE HELL the support would be. I'm not playing in this section, but what about those who are? It is much better than attempting to register for a section and finding out that your bra size is preordered and now sold out so just tape up ur boobies and get in where you fit in!

It was the responsible thing to do while masqueraders still have the option to make some corrective efforts with this costume. It is better than having someone bawl this out over a bullhorn in your ears while waiting on line to pick up your costume at the Cascadia Hotel on Carnival Saturday...For 2k6 I found out that the crystals on my Nylon Pool costume were fragile, so "be careful when yuh jumping up." I wasn't pleased about this....Or the price hikes for 2k7. But we live and life goes on!

I don't always approve of everything TRIBE (or anyone else for that matter), but I approve of HOW they handled this. IMHO it was appropriate given the circumstance.

Well i wasn't saying anything all the time because its not that I am upset but I am not too happy either with this turn of events. Like i was telling Sauce before and like Trini in Toronto said I am paying so much money for this that I think they have time to try to fix it at least. Instead of going ahead with the flimsy-ness, add some cups. Throw in a bra like the man said. I am here studying if i should take the plain white bra from angel fish last year and dye it red so that when I am jumping or taking pictures I don't have to study a black/ beige / red satin bra peeking out from my red corset.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

jamette to fix it they would need to redesign that corsette adding the cups and it is either one of two things; the corsettes have already been made so it is too late to change the design or it will cost them too much money to scrap the original design.

I think you should go ahead with your plan to visit the mas camp and voice your concerns, afterall you are a paying customer and you want to ensure that the product you are paying for meets your standards.Maybe when you go and inspect the corsette you might find it will work for you afterall, but you can only make that decision if you go and check it out.

Icahwait like yuh read my mind! I in Dame Lorraine but I well wanted that Jamette corset and headpiece!

True it was bad planning on the leaders part to have a tube top instead of a corset and for that price it had better be something worthy for Heidi Klum to model in a certain secret of Victoria's lol...in other words a REAL corset with cups and boning would be nice.

But it was still good customer service to warn the people in that section of this. I used to help out at a mas camp and to thnk that all the designs will come out perfect is just crazy, things happen. Sometimes the materials vendor flubbed on something, anything could happen. There may be some other band in T&T who would not go through the trouble to call people and just hope the problem goes away as they distribute the costumes.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

The point about customer service is taken,it is good of them to inform masqueraders upfront, however I still stand by the fact that the corsette should have been a better design.

anon, I hope all those playing in Jamette get this information; they now have the option of contacting the mas camp if they have not gotten the call. Hope everything works out for those in this section, beecause you know if it does not TRIBE will good get some pong for this faux pas!:D

Anonymous said...

Lawd we don't need no boob peek-a-boos on the road come Monday & Tuesday. I hope Tribe is able to find a happy medium with already registered folks.

That's one wardrobe malfunction that'll rival Janet Jackson's oui! LOL

now since this is a screw up on their part, if anyone changes their mind and they do not get into another section of their choice, what will tribe be prepared to do???
