For those still looking for costumes, Island People only has three section left. At the mas camp the sections still available are Cacti, Sahara Jumbie and Nubians, all female only.
Online registration is still open but you only know which sections are open when you try to register; on that note some people who tried to register online and the costume was not immediately available, were sent an email stating that they will be put on a waiting list in the event that persons holding registrations do not make payment. So, overseas masqueraders still have a small chance of getting a costume online.

If I was playin in IP, Sahara Jumbie was my costume of choice. Dat is de sexiest black costume i've ever seen! JUST GORGEOUS!!
It WELL & SEXY! I love how the model is working it on the website. Go Aming! And is Machel section too! ;)
I would love to wear a black costume if there was one that I liked enough. With enuf DRAMA. And I can't wait to see the BIG Le Soleil Brule fabric one on the road. Nubians is different & nice, but not me. That Cacti one could take a voyage with Lucifer on the express tugboat to hell! It's supposedly better in person though.
oh yeah baby, my band doin well!!!!
lol
i like arabian nights, th ebelly dancer costume. Its sooooo pretty
I am surprised Nubians did not sell out sooner. I like the headpiece alot but I guess the shells and lack of glitter and sequins on the costume does not appeal to some people.
saucy can you say something positive about ip for once, i started reading your last comment and it sounded so positive, and then at the end you found something negative to say, damn girl!
anon I an quite fed up of people singing the same song that I cannot say something positive about Island People..there was NOTHING negative in me saying I was surprised Nubians did not sell out sooner; I have always liked Nubians and I do like the shells BUT I have heard people say they did not like that the costume did not have some "glitter" HENCE the reason why I said it did not appeal to SOME people. I never said it did not appeal to ME.
Damn!Get that chip off allyuh shoulder that I am not playing with Island People!I have nothing against them.
actually we glad you playing with tribe
AND SO AM I :D
Steups ppl could find sumn to get vex at in anything eh? Anon jus lookin for something to quarrel about. Why they can't find a blogger who playing with IP if they so sensitive about their band? Chups man!
And you didn't even say anything bad!
But yeah I glad Saucy playing with we so anon haul yuh bumsee :-P
lawwd South Reds yuh mout eh easy ! LOL.
Now that would just open the door for several different anonymous people to come and make comments in response and yuh know how that does go down!!!
Why can't we just agree to enjoy our respective bands and call that George? Obviously if I am playing with a certain band I will talk more about my experience with them and if I think they are good enough to get my money doesn't that mean for me they are doing something right and therefore I will have less to complain about? Ok, right, everybody agree now let us please move on from this! I am so tired of the band vs band.
I thought that was left on the forums;let the people who playing with their individual bands just be happy!
You know I tried to play with sahara jumbie, but Island People told me they had no L or XL tops available, we were quite disappointed...
These anons are drving me up the effing wall. Shims man can't a person have an opinion anywhere on the WORLD WIDE WEB??? Note the emphasis on "world wide" OK.
Back to more positive things, people need to get off the glitter stuff already. Mas is not allways glitter and beads. Nubians is a very nice costume and I like the fact that it's different. I have a thing for cowrie shells anyway so if I was an IP follower, I'd be in dat!
UYup, Nubians was one of my faves along with Sacred Sand and Oasis.
Anon, sorry about Sahara Jumbie that is a pretty costume; have you tried the mas camp or online since the section is still open?
Saucy, I agree that you do talk more about tribe than IP but I know that it's just bc you never played with IP. I just think that anon was taking it a bit personal bc when you play in a band u have a lot of "band pride" (lol yea just made up a new phrase) But anyway tribe definitely is more organised than IP and who knows, IP might just get their crap together by carnival monday and the road experience will be great. I am not playing with tribe bc their costumes are hideous (except maybe p grenade and fancy sailor), and I know that some ppl convinced themselves that the tribe costumes were ok but I couldn't do it, they're just outright ugly (in my humble opinion). I also had an issue with the type of ppl that their photographers prefer to take pictures of (there is that underlying preference for red ppl with curly or naturally straight hair), and living in america I deal with that enough, I don't need to go to trini to experience it also! SO I have no problem with those who choose to go with tribe but I prefer to go where I am more readily accepted and that is in IP.
pretti-trini well said and I can appreciate everything you had to say, even the fact that you think TRIBE's costumes are ugly. I never noticed the photographer issue in terms of it being only red people, but they do tend to photograph the same people over and over. I really do hope Island People delivers a great on-road experience, since I know many people playing with them, including my cousin and I would wish a great Carnival experience to everyone, no matter which band they are playing with.
Saucy,
I spoke to a friend who is part of the IP committee and this person said that there are still some male costumes in Mirage. I'm not sure if this is bc he is on the committee so he can register ppl but it is not open to the general public...but anyway, just wanted you to know. Oh, and since it's friday I wanted to post this for all of the trinis who can't go home for carnival, it's quite funny!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka7XWQ_Pq08&search=trinidad
once again, instead of everyone bitching about tribe and ip, please bitch about the savannah stage, i am playing with ip, but focussed on the issues of the savannah stage. if plans of a route are not etched in stone, no one, no matter what band, will have a good carnival experience.
anon, maybe you missed it but I as well as several persons who visit this blog have already bitched about the Savannah stage; check my archives for the number of posts on the subject.I even provided a list of the relevant authorities to bitch to. Alas, it is not everyday that I can bitch about the Savannah ....and I came to a personal decision that for me, at least, I am going to enjoy carnival come what may.
but you can bitch about ip everyday lol
i guess that if ip was soo terrible with costume distribution this year, how come almost all the sections are gone, i guess everyone has their favourite band.
