Harts information

In case you Harts masqueraders missed it quicksliver posted about Harts goody bag and some other info after costume collection. You can find the original comment in my Goody Bag post.

The official Harts cart is $500.00 though private carts can be had for cheaper and the "wee wee" truck is $80.00. Listed items in the goody bag are panadol, bandages, deodorant, toothpaste, sports balm, andrews, a 3d Port-of-Spain route map, snacks and crime tips.

For the section lineup check the website, the section runs alphabetically as follows:

Nirvana A, B, AB
Benin AA, BB, CC
Elysian Fields C, D
Zeal DD, EE
Herland E, F, G
Xanadu FF, GG
Aztlan FLH, FLJ
Oceana FLK, FLL, FLM
Shangri-La H, J. K
Olympus L, M
Atlantis MM, NN
Xen N, 0
Arcadia OO, PP
Aaru P, Q, R
White Mountain S, T, U, V
Cokaigne W, X
Paradise Y, Z

Apparently the sections go from A to Z, so Nirvana will be the first section, followed by Benin, Elysian Fields etc. The A, B, AB represents each costume in the section, for instance female version 1, version 2 and male.

Thank you Saucy! I do appreciate it! Now, me being a virgin masquerader, I do not understand this concept of "carts". Can someone explain this?

I feel so dumb...:(

Harts is not all inclusive but they do offer drinks on both days which you can purchase seperately; the drinks are served from individual carts, for each section/s. If you pay for a cart you get unlimited access for drinks on both days from the cart. I am not too sure if they are offering lunch this year with the cart.

some carts have food. not unlimited food like the all-inclusive bands, but you still get something. the cart i'm with for example gives you sandwiches on monday and pelau on tuesday. and you get free drinks (scotch, rum, beer, vodka, gatorade, water etc) on both days. there are several 'carts' - usually brought out by a group of friends or a party group like triniposse.

So, if I'm not with a cart (I am in Tennessee and my mom is making all my arrangements Trini-side), what do I do for drinks? Can I buy as I go?

My mom picked up my costume today (section Aaru) and she didn't mention anything about carts or nothing.

Sorry about all the questions...I think I will change my name to Masquerader Novice. LOL

anon in tennessee, if you are buying drinks you can purchase them from the many MANY vendors that will be all over the streets of port-of-spain. almost everybody has a bar set-up. you won't be able to buy drinks from the carts in the band.

most of the private carts are now closed but but it's not too late to get into the Harts cart. it's $500 - i don't they they have food, but they are advertising 'premium drinks' and it may be well worth your while if you don't mind paying that much or you can handle your alcohol and the sun... your mom can pay for it at the counter where they check the costume box at the mas camp on alcazar street. you should also get her to pay for the "we-we" truck for you for $80 - it is a good investment for all the ladies!

if you're in a cart you need to wear your cart ID band on both days.
