La Brea, the story of

I absolutely LOVE how all these mas bands are preparing in earnest for 2008 Carnival already! Gives us something to look forward to during the endless wait for band launching season. Debutantes Image Nation will be presenting"La Brea, the story of..." for the Carnival 2008.

For the full story behind the theme as well as more information check out their website, and for photos of this year's band you can click here.

I love the story behind the theme. It has a lot of potential for some truly fabulous designs.

Another interesting concept. Da "story" is mine, oui. My boyhood days were in La Brea...pitch (tar) is in meh blood ; ) trini by injection, La Brea men know how to do it in the pitch...lol

Dey had a lot of soucouyants and phantoms down dey too. So, meh grandmother and she macoumey (sp) use to tell the stories of the goings on in the village after dark. No use for she to tell me to go to meh bed, when I use to fall asleep in she lap on the couch, listening to them talk. I was scared as hell!!!!

Yes, Saucy. Those boyhood days in La Brea are in my most cherished memories. I lived with my grandmother when I was 3 yrs to 10 yrs. Then I lived in Diamond Vale for a year and a half, before I came to the States (New York). I attended Diego Sec when I lived in D'Vale.

Yup, we need many creative people to keep the vibrant culture of Carnival very bright, indeed ; )
