The Headlines Confirm the Rumors.....

Crime has been finally pushed off the front page of Trinidad's daily newspapers; the topic of the day is both the closing of Zen by the police and Machel Montano being investigated for an alleged beating of a Zen patron on Wednesday night.

Click on the Newspaper photos to be taken to the Zen story.

As for the incident allegedly involving Machel Montano both the Express and Guardian state that he is being investigated while Liz Montano, Machel's mother has come out in defense of her son stating that he is not only innocent but traumatised by the entire episode; she later went on to say:
"Machel is very traumatised and I was not aware until tonight just how traumatised he is over the incident. Machel is seriously considering migrating because of how he has been treated here over the years after doing so much to promote his country,"
Well I hope if Machel does decide to leave Trinidad for good that he returns for Carnival; I may not like the man personally but I LOVE his music!! Here is hoping he delivers a great performance at Tobago Jazz festival on Sunday night in spite of his "trauma".

Let’s recap, shall we:

Minor girl’s back to Africa wine down.
Police raid Zen looking for video evidence on their review maco down.
Machel entourage and the big beat down.
Club Zen complete shut down.

All of dis is cow dung.

Seems to me, all involved in jumbie week at Club Zen need to do some serious zen meditation and reflect on what the f went wrong, very wrong.

Ah gone, ah have May flowers on meh mind in NYC.

Somebody wok a dread obeah on Johnny Soong boy.. Wow.

And Machel eh no traumatised, he probably just vex because he might not get away this time. And I can't say he has consciously sought to promote Trinidad, his career has been a lot more focused on self-promotion, so his moms ought to check what she saying. Machel the Martyr is a bit hard for me to swallow, because everyone knows that while he's an amazing entertainer, as a human being, he's not so great. Arrogant doesn't begin to describe.

I really think that closing down Zen is a move which ought to have been anticipated because our society LOVES to find a scapegoat. And a successful business man is very appealing to ppl who wish to see someone take a fall. Of course the fact that Zen is one of few Nightclubs in Trinidad that might come close to meeting any sort of "Standards" would be lost on those in charge.

I feelin real shame for Machel. Whether he really did it or not, he always seem to be involved in some sort of embarrassing display of behaviour.

Machel, try and be a better role model for the youths nah!. I love yuh bad bad bad. I cyar explain how your performances and the quality of your music gives me a high, but yuh really have to check yuhself. Uplift yuhself and make it yuh business to be a better role model.you have done alot as an embassador for our beautiful nation, and i don't want to seem ungrateful, but i just asking you to do a little more....

Take a bush bath and start again.... and stop d chupid talk bout migratin'. Yuh soundin' like a lil baby.....And we know yuh aint no 'traumatized' !

So he seriously thinking about mirgrating because of this, come on Ms. Montano be real.
I don't believe Machel was the victim here. Did he not leave our shores before? I am very sorry if Machel have to leave our country over this? Maybe he outgrow the island? Who knows?

Saucy I heard that he's migrating because Island records has offered him a recording deal. He was being wooed by them when he did the concert at Madison Square Gardens a few weeks ago.

whatever

I live in New York and didnt go to his concert. That's also because I saw him at every party during carnival season in February. I played with Island People and experienced and saw his nastiness.

He won't move here because he may be a star in the Trini community, but not in the overall caribbean community. We only make up so much of New York anyway.

He won't be a star in the way of Jay Z or a Will Smith. They don't even let some of the stars here into the exclusive clubs. He'd have to work for fame and I don't think he wants that.

He better stay his but there because I won't be feeding into his ego.

by the way- I met Shurwayne Winchester at Salybia and he was very nice to his fans, giving them hugs and blessings. That man could get my money

forgive my ignorance but what's going with Machel

Machel was very successful giving his concert in Madison Square Garden, so much so that his first concert sold out the very same day and broke a record at MSG. They had to quickly add on another concert and from what i heard it was fantastic. He made a shit load of $$$ in just one day. Stop being haters!!

Machel could leave for all i care. There was carnival before him and it will continue when he gone. Give the up and coming talent a chance.

Anon 9:34 why is it being a "hater" to believe that all men should be equal before the law? Granted that's a foreign concept in Trinidad, but Soca Stars should not be exceptions to the rules which govern our country.
