Sources have just informed me of two sections for Island People's 2008 presentation "Animal Instinct"; one is Zebra (which will be the second section) and the other Panther which is reportedly Sonia Mack's all black section . I have also been told that prototypes of costumes will be reviewed today and initial reports are that they are all smoking HOT!!!!!!! Hopefully the date for launching will be decided upon soon as well. Any fears of Sonia Mack leaving is totally unfounded as she will be section #1, leading the band as usual.

I believe if folks are really interested in jumping in IP's sexy new theme they should be ready to:
-Have a large sum to pay for their mas in full UP FRONT (if overseas).
-Have access to MoneyGram and NOT WUnion.
-Obtain a rhel nice goody bag, even if they have to duck, bob, and weave as the bags are thrown, etc etc etc...
-Practice their ramajayin' and misbehavin' at the mas camp during pick up.
-Put up with the band being stomed due to Mr Montano.
-Have ONE HELL of a GOOD TIME on de road!

For research purposes and to give a fair comparison I would def play with Island People BUT only for one day or part of one day (like Wendy Fitzwilliam) and only if I am getting my costume free haha :D Once I am paying, my money is going with the band I feel most comfortable with and the band I have the most faith in giving over my money for a totally great experience from registration to costume pickup to on road experience!
every band has problems with registration as well as experiences, this blog just highlights ip. Tribe, Trini Revellers etc, all had problems as well as unhappy customers, it was just not brought to the forefront
This blog highlights MY experience which was with TRIBE I did not play with any other band so I cannot comment. I did go to IP to register a friend and wrote about that experience. I also publised reviews of Brian Mc Farlane, Island People and Legacy post Carnival and they did write about problems experienced as well as the good time they had in all those bands.
Just as you are "free" to make your comments so to are other people free to talk about their negative experiences with other bands,it isn't my duty to filter the IP bad press nor is it my duty to stop the people who played with TRIBE (of which there are many who visit this blog) to talk about their experiences.
Maybe someone who played with IP can start their own blog and lets see just how neutral their writings will be. A blog is a personal journal ( I dunno how many times I must say this) and my goal is not to think about pandering to popular opinion or advertise a certain band as I am not a committee member nor do I get any free costume or special treatment or money at the end of the day.
Well all I have to say is let the races begin! Last year I registered with Legends. I had a BLAST. Everything in my section was ON POINT. I may get wooed this year by the beautiful costumes in Tribe and IP but due to registration difficulties and poor Customer Service I may just stay with Legends.
i agree, i look to this blog to give me info on what is going on in tnt (i am in nyc) I don't really want to read about people arguing about crap, i want coverage about the various bands and the launches.
saucy y do u respond & u forget to add harts to the reviews on this blog.If u only cared about tribes then y did u go to all the band launchings last year to post the pictures on blog? I remember u went to all the mas camps too because I was waiting to choose a costume with Mc Farlane and sent u an email when u put the sections on d blog to thank u since the section was sold out before the website went up for registration.These stupid people who leave ignorant comments vex me this morning.
