So I was expecting TRIBE's website to be up by now (it isn't) where I could view additional photos of the sections that I am considering to obsess some more. Imagine I went to the launch, have seen the costumes up close, looked at the photos I took, and those from every photo website, a thousand times and I still am no closer to making a choice!!
I am definitely playing in front line and my choices are as follows:
"Lady of the Lake" front line - I love everything about this costume, including the cape since I know I can handle it and rework it into a different style if needs be. It is gorgeous, dramatic and has more than enough costume for me. I don't need to add anything to this costume to make it scream "frontliner". The only thing I am hesitant about is not having a feathered headpiece.
"Goddess of the Chase" front line - This costume provides the ultimate headpiece for the masquerader that loves a huge headpiece, I cannot complain in that department. The one caveat is that I think the front line is missing other embellishments to make it complete, as is the rest of the costume looks like the back line minus the headpiece. I would certainly need to spruce up the "rest" of the costume on my own to take it to true F.H.O. standards.
"Mystique" front line - The least showy of the three in my opinion; it looks like an upgraded back line and not really a true front line with ALL the details that makes you say that one is "special". I love the colour, however, having never played in purple and it is one if my favourite colours. The headpiece is the most attractive thing on this costume, I even like the one "fin" and the asymmetrical design on the belt and foot piece. The only thing giving me some trouble is the feathers on that bra! I am trying to imagine what it would look like on me and I cannot picture it.
Those are my choices after looking at all the costumes, though I think a trip back to Cascadia today to look at the front lines might help me make up my mind! I have never had such a headache trying to decide on one costume before, usually I choose one section right off the bat that I am in love with but this time my heart desires all three!!! My friends are no help either, two have decided on Black Magic and my other friend who usually plays with me is willing to play back line to any front line that I choose but favors Lady of the Lake.
As a consequence I am asking for your help in choosing a costume so take my poll and let me know which is the BEST costume I could select. I made it so you could vote once a week, in case you change your mind as I have been doing a million times already, so you can come back and vote more than once. I cannot wait for the results!

i read your blog regularly and from the way you talk, i think u might be most happy in Lady of the lake.
I actually adore, and prefer, goddess of the chase for myself, but i am having the same problem with it as you. i feel as if i decide to take off my headpiece for a few minutes, i will look just like the backline. there are some subtle differences in the bra and the belt between the front and backline, but its not enough to distinguish it.
and as far as mystique goes, forget bout dem feathers on the bra piece. that will be a nightmare. mystique is actually my favourite section, but the backline. dat belt real hott. can u imagine when u start to sweat and dem feathers start to stick on yuh chest and the dye start to run too?....OMG...nah!
and that's why i say Lady of the Lake is the best frontline out of the uptions you have narrowed it down too.
and like me, since you playin mas from since yuh born, i know u will work that cape like iz nobody business and look hot on the road. a large headpeice with this one would be too much. its a fair enough trade off.....lol

I think a headpiece for Lady of the Lake would be too much as well. And I had the same thought about Goddess, without the headpiece you blend into the backline!!

Ok, so I like Lady of the Lake for you. As you said it its the only one that looks like a frontliner and you should look good in the colour if my judging of your skin tone is correct. I too am have reservations about the head peice not having feathers but its one of those give and take situations I guess.
I like Goddess of the Chase, but no head piece and you're just one of the plebs. At first I was wondering if Tribe couldn't add some more to the costume but when you look at it, adding something else may spoil the look of the costume and the effect the head piece gives.
Mystique is a favourite for me but, not frontliner enough for a true FHO. Its almost as though its a second choice for the section and not a frontline at all. I didn't realise it was a frontline costume until you mentioned it actually.
So that said, unless Tribe can make some additions to Mystique for you then Lady of the lake it is.

For you, Lady of the Lake. But.. there is no real head piece :( and that makes me sad, only because I love head pieces. However, the costume definitely does not need it! Mystique is wonderful, just the way it is, but for you, Lady of the Lake!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I've been playing mas since I was a little girl and now that I'm in my mid-thirties I'm really over the bikini and beads for carnival. I don't mind playing in it for Broward Carnival when it comes around since that's a backyard bbq compared to Trinidad. When it comes to real mas I'm itching for something different I'm sick of picking a section based on the fact that I haven't played in that section's color. Of all the front lines Lady of the Lake goes out of the box by NOT having a feathered head piece-I applaud the designer for that. Saucy, you area true mas lady and can rock that costume!

natasha I did have an easier time last year, remember I loved Fireman from day 1.. but as has been the trend I changed my mind last minute lol (did it for 2006 as well).
Thing is I have NO room for error, I must pick the perfect costume now as I cannot change once I have paid for a frontline. Things will be different this year I tell allyuh with that big d/p for frontlines and/or payment in full.
hehe Saucy...I told you from the minute I saw Lady of the Lake frontline...I thought of you! It's just a diva costume hands down and hands up! Yes...no headpiece...but it's still sooooooooo complete! I really also love Phoenix for you also. But, from your options, choice is definitely Lady of the Lake.

newbie2 which sections do you like and what type of costume do you favor? Do you like a big headpiece, skimpy belt, good bra support.. something fun and flirty or dramatic and sexy?
not to sure about preferences since this is the first time i will be playing. i like the look of the large head pieces, but i get the general concensus that most people get rid of them very early on. What is your take on that. cause i get the impression your a head piece girl right though! would prefer not too skimpy a belt and would like a proper bra for sure, but i can have fun with either fun/flirty or dramatic. probably leaning towards the former though! don't know if that help :)
You are right, I wore my headpiece till the end!!It came off when I got into the car to go home :D
I listed all the sections with a real bra, I think if you are a C cup or less chances are you will get a wonderbra (since that is what was used this year). Larger cups get a diff. bra.
I like Almathea, Sun Goddess,Isis Frontline,Goddess of the Chase medium headpiece and Autumn Sprite Frontline for costumes that are somewhat diff.
If you are a younger masquerader I like Water Nymph.
If you have no problem playing in Black , Black Magic is gorgeous.
Saucy, after scrutinizing all your pics I have to say that Lady of the Lake will look outstanding on you! The beading on the bra and belt is soo lovely and the colour is feminine yet sexy! The cape may make the costume feel a bit more covered, so if I were playing it I would definitely adjust the cape...But all round this costume has lots going for it, especially originality! I don't think the lack of headpiece is an issue, especially with that feathered swirly bit at the back...think a headpiece on top everything else would have been overkill...
I myself like Chase, so that would be my second choice for you. The colours and details of the costume itself are great but I do think the accessories are a bit sparse...and to me it is not as original as Lady...
and I like the colours of Mystique but not feeling the asymmetrical lines nor the feathered bra...:s Reminds me of that Aqua blue costume 2 years ago...when you see rain/sweat/sunblock start to make those feathers stick to you I'm pretty sure they would become irritating...

Over the past three days I think I have read YOUR WHOLE BLOG - Yes I am officially in a mess.
Ok Tribe has always been my band and I have always been a FLHo before Tribe days to the point where I didnt care what Sonia played in Poison just so I could be the first on the stage. Alrighty - after reviwed your whole damn blog I think Lady of the Lake is YOU - serious - when you flinging that cape you wont care about headpiece, Mystique is for dem no sweat bbs who jumping social and what if it rains nah doh think about mystique; now Goddess - damn Tribe does always get me with a headpiece and dat going on my wall next year. Let us know when the site goes live.
Saucy, from the list you put up I would go with Lady of the Lake as well, as it looks most 'frontline'.
But ultimately, I think you should be an individual (pocket permitting)and play in the Phoenix costume.
You would be the ULTIMATE FABULOUS F.H.O. in that costume!

I said Lady of the Lake since early last week for you, Saucy, but ON THE REAL...you are THE PHOENIX!!
Even though the majority are voting Lady of the Lake (a gorgeous costume, to be sure) I am not feeling the hooded cape (maybe length, I dunno). That and the asymmetrical (“quiver”) backpack are not evoking a “lady of the lake” mystical for me. Other than the obvious gorgeousness of the piece, I can imagine that it does appear that Lady of the Lake bikini top and bottom “seem” to be the best fit for your body.
Mystique does bring forth a sense of mystique, and I do appreciate the dominant asymmetrical flourishes for this piece. Yeah, it seems a bit “thin” for a frontline, but something could be done with individual personal touches to bring out a fuller impact.
I wouldn’t change anything for the Goddess of the Chase (I think you would be compelled to add you personal touches, i.e. boots, boots, boots. The headpiece is the focus of impact. Every time I see it, my mind starts racing. I like very much, the “leather look” (hopefully, nice sweat absorbing material in the lining) and details of the top and bottom (I love the lace up detail on the sides of the bottom.) The key for this one is making sure your top would absolutely be comfortable. From my eyes, the bottom covers (pun unintentional) a variety of different bottom types: broad, narrow, flat, round, the whole range, really). However, the bottom as in ALL bikini mas for women is the normal pinched waist “coke bottle” shaped to transition to the top. My vote (I did vote in the poll) is for you to be in Goddess of the Chase frontline, to have that euphoric, out of body, mas road experience.
The only two frontlines I had picked for you (one day after launch) to play were Mystique and Goddess of the Chase frontlines (Black Magic and Water Nymph were the backlines choices.) Two out of three ain’t bad (for me) ; ) lol.
Saucy how is the Lady of the Lake cape attached? Is it part of the backpack or is there a way to wear the backpack w/out the cape? I personally find the headpiece change refreshing, it reminds me of..I think it was Island Events tribute to Josephine Baker??? I loved the 50's skullcap then and I love it now though it works best w/ a costume that doesn't NEED a big headpiece and this is one.
