Take away the props and art effects and then see what you really have to work with.. I personally don't think they're all that.. and before anyone goes there, I am in no way, shape or form biased to any one band.

i agree with Megan. no "wows" coming from this direction.

"wow" why are bands still using body paint and scary makeup to "sell" costumes? steups..

It looks like Evolution because the designer Ricardo Gomez designed 3 sections for Evolution this year: Rouge, African Gold and Out of the Blue.

Presentation is important I think, but only when it can add and not distract you form the costume.
I remember really liking TRIBE's costume pics for "What Lies Beneath".

Headpiece for first costume looks just like African Gold :)

Thanks A.C.,was looking for my Evolution booklet to confirm what sections Ricardo Gomes did for them , didn't find it and the website is down as well!

OH PLEASE! Every costume will always look like every other costume. It's a damn sparkly bikini!!!!

Nothing wrong with a conscious artistic effort.

Anybody with half a brain could separate a costume from the imagery. If not then you must have been sorely disappointed when butterflies, unicorns and pixies did not jump out of your Tribe box this year.

At least appreciate the effort ... even if it aint your cup of rum.

LMAO...anyhooo...

Saucy I had to refer to the calendar from Evolution to find the names of the deisgners ;)

These costumes look nothing like Evolution costumes this year! Are you all crazy? These are way hotter!!!! I was at their media launch and the attention paid to the detail on these costumes is amazing! I can't wait for their band launch to see the other sections. I think it's going to be fabulous.

Is not the same as this:

SAME designer, Ricardo Gomez, so makes sense!

Butterflies, unicorns and pixies...Oh My!

LOL.

But ahm...contrary to popular belief all bikin mas is not the same and it does not look the same.

I know I coulda tell the difference between a Barbarossa vs Poison vs Harts. They all are bikini mas yes, but they have a particular style.

True dat Afro. point taken!

Richard said...

Afro chick you make good points.
However, i do agree that the costumes look alot like EVOLUTION'S,the because some designers never change styles to adapt to changing times if you do you research you'll find the same designs as far back as 2000 poison, the body costumes seem to be incomplete in some cases and borrowed ideas in others, i can applaud the efforts of these "designers" but i must repeat myself, why rush? try to perfect your designs instead of rushing, and ending up facing the firing squad. And when you do so much makeup and body paint it make the costumes appear cheap and weak!

Today's Express has several write ups on the band as well as pics of the 3 costumes.

They look good...I like the headpieces.

Interesting..I see potential here.

True Carnival players know the difference between Poison Barbarosa et al. Love his work played with him since Poison then Trini Revellers in Royalty loved the costume played with him in Evolution loved the costume and this year looks great. Heard from people that his costume was fantastic without even seeing them on the internet. appreciate the artwork not all is bikini and beads.
