Spice update

Contrary to reports about the sold out sections in Spice, which were reserved during the preview, those sections are not Brown Sugar and Sea Salt.

However, Melilot Blue and Mediterranean Borage are the sold out sections. I was informed that sections will be increased in size by 50 extra spaces when registration starts ON FRIDAY 25th July, so for those with an eye on those sections you know what to do!

Ok, so hopefully all the mis-information has been cleared up!

WOW!!!

saucy, maybe you or someone could answer this question for me:
did the belt for Mediterranean Borage look flimsy?? i am asking this because in the launch pics, the belt looked kinda of flimsy. could someone give me any commentary? thanks!!

Saucy aka "The Sauce" said...

flimsy? No, it is very well decorated and did not look flimsy to me. But I have no idea what you are thinking of when you say flimsy.

hmmm, i went back and took a look at the belt, and maybe i was just seeing things. ok, thanks for the clarification!!

Wait wait wait...hold the heck up...

How one minute (last week I think) it was Sea Salt and Brown Sugar sold out to the "supporters", and now is Meditteranean Borage and Melilot Blue?
Yuh mean tuh say ALL dem people move across from them two first sections to these two?

Steups...

Spice trying to pull a fast one to hype up people or what?

At least TRIBE waits until registration starts to sell costumes to TLC holders! Spice done sell out two sections? What kinda madness is that? A new band, no past masqueraders, and they sell out two whole sections to their friends? Not setting a very good precedent if you ask me.

As far as I can tell, no representative from Spice ever said that Sea Salt and Brown Sugar were the sold out sections. I think that was just public speculation, based on the fact that those were the first 2 costumes to be shown (and that they were 'hott like fyah').

I personally don't see anything wrong with the policy of offering costumes to supporters before public registration. Especially if said supporters have been giving up their time, energy and money to back a brand new band with no proven track record.

This is nothing new, and every band engages in this practice. I myself (and many other people who play with other bands) have often had to settle for a second or third choice of costume even when registering within minutes of the costumes going on sale. It would be folly to believe that this was entirely the result of post-launch sales.

Ok is it just me or did Melilot Blue look more aqua in the launch pics?

No hype Afro chic, the costumes are widely regarded as being extremely gorgeous, hott and sexy and as a result will sell fast. It was you guys who wrongly speculated which sections had sold out. I distinctly remember telling you that it would be revealed after the launch. Borage ad Bleu were always the ones and I believe Saucy was advised by one of our members of this on Saturday. These 2 sections will be expanded by 50-100 additional persons bringing them to a size of 250-300 persons each, but after that the sections will be closed. We expect Peppercorns, Golden Basil, Scotch Bonnet and Paprika to sell off very quickly. Based on demand Paprika has already been expanded to 400 persons. No other sections are likely to be expanded as it is the intention to keep the band at a certain size.

Melilot Blue reminds me of TRIBE Nylon Pool 2k6 (What Lies Beneath)

All in all, Spice costumes are spicy!!!

Hot is right, I left a comment on the facebook group recently that Borage was sold out as that was the one I remembered being told was sold out on Saturday; I could not remember the other one which was Blue.I don't know where the rumours of Sea Salt and Brown Sugar came from hence the reason I sought clarification on the matter today!

Silky, I agree the costume seemed more aqua than what they are showing on the website. The color change is not as pretty to me.

I agree with Squeezle. You said it well, no need to repeat it. It is not a new practice and quite frankly, if I was a supporter and possibly even a financier, I would like to be extended a show of gratitude in the form of first preference for a costume.
Spice is new and has possibly not mastered the art of keeping a lid on things like that so as not to elicit public commentary :-)
A good example of a similar thing is the Harvard Section, The Trini Posee, not to mention that 'special' green and silver (also hideous) section that came out in Tribe this year well after the band was sold out etc...where did that come from? who filled that section?

hot some of the costumes are getting people's attention but do not get too cocky or comfortable with the reviews, Tribe and Island People are still to launch, as much as I do like one section in Spice I am honestly saying now that if I see a nicer costume in one of the established bands they will get my money over Spice. I wish you luck on the new band.

silky, i also thought that Blue was more aqua than what we see on the website...i don't know it was the difference in the flash of the camaras...that aqua made me really turn my head to the costume...

ria, i don't think hot was cocky in her response.

bizzie chic, i really, really thought that the "blue" section reminded me of TRIBE's nylon pool...in fact, you kinda see elements of all the popular bands throughout the sections...interesting!

this is a question for hot since you appear to be the know regarding Spice costumes, are there any provisions for "top heavy" masquerader?? there are a good few of us, that would probably come and play with your band, but alot of us our like DD, E, F & G cups (uk size), would there be a opportunity to bring your own bra for them to decorate?? or would the team be well equipped to deal with this???

Hot said...

I will check on this and verify for certain but it should not be a problem. But let me verify. I can tell you that many of the sections come with strap or strapless, bikini top or corset, hot shorts, bikini bottom or tankini as options. so what you propose does not sound impossible but I believe it will depend on the section as some stuff is being made here and some is being made outside.

So what time on Friday will registration be available? Is there costume inventory set aside for those registering online?

I should qualify my statement. What time will online registration be available on Friday?
