Since the party is for TLC Holders and 2008 masqueraders I wonder if this means that they are allowing 2008 masqueraders to play in 2009. They keep talking about limiting the size of the band. I've read that first picks will go to those who played with TRIBE for 5 years. I played with TRIBE 2008 and don’t recall receiving a TLC #. I’m sure TRIBE has probably been swamped with emails and calls about this, because it's extremely difficult to get a response from them regarding TLC's and when they will be issued especially for us overseas masqueraders.

I meant launch, not party.

carnibal enthusiast i share ur sme thoughts, 1 person did say they got their tlc, but i was going tomorrow n c if i can get that situation shorted out

Great news :)

Yes you should be able to get your TLC even if you only played this year. Both my sis and cousin played with TRIBE for the 1st time this year, AND they were both able to get TLCs. They collected theirs the same time that they collected their costume though. And sometime after when I called the camp they did say that they have uncollected TLCs. Try your luck mimi, hope you get your TLC.

this is really upsetting me because i have been trying to get this tlc situation resolved with the mas camp since march, and still no tlc!! i even spoke to a young lady by the name of danielle, and she said to bare patience...but that was a month ago!!! i just want my friggin' TLC card!!

dajewel!!! that same thing is happening to me!! i've been emailing this danielle person STEADY (for about 5 months), and i know she tired of getting emails from me!! She always have an excuse, and telling me all sorts of stories...if they don't have, then just say so! let me know if you get tru....

yes, krissyt!!! i honestly thought that i was alone!!! i was also told by someone since last week that TRIBE is updating their systems, but how long does it take to update a system??? this is some foolywang stuff that i don't think is acceptable with TRIBE (or any band for that matter)!!!! how some people get and some people don't get??? this danille person needs to get it together!!!!

I thought I was the only one too? I was behind them since last year and the amount of documentation they ask for I thought it was a Passport I was applying for? I played 3 years with them so far. Just sent them and e-mail about it. And ah not sending all that picture ID, past pics rubbish they ask for again. Damn nonsense!

so what about people who want to play for the first time with tribe have they really thought this thru since they at planning to reduce the size of the band.

Now as much as I love TRIBE, their communications division is not on top of things. Many of us who posted mentioned emailing numerous times with no response or responding weeks or months later with lame excuses as to why TLC have not been issued. I would just like to hear, no you can't jump with us this year so I can take my business to another band. What’s the sense in promising to email the TLC (for overseas masqueraders) for months now? As much as I am complaining, I am patiently waiting.

i have my TLC from this year and have been unable to register it. everytime i send the text to Tribe, it gets kicked back. :(

we're just out of luck this year. us who never played TRIBE before that is, i suppose. But there's plenty of room in other bands, ent?

I personally want to be in TRIBE's band. My experience with them thus far has been great! I dont have many complaints with TRIBE. The thought of selecting a new band means taking a risk. I dont want to shell out hundreds of $$$ for a hot costume and a crappy road experience. Or end up in a horrendus costume and have a blast on the road. I want the ultimate carnival experience like TRIBE delivered this year!

Carnival Enthusiast you are in your right to support Tribe as a matter of independent choice. They do offer a good overall product. But it is not something that is impossible to replicate. Now, choosing a new band does have a certain amount of risk tied to it. BUT what you should consider is that without any risk there is no reward and if you don't get on the bandwagon (no pun intended) early then I don't think its right to complain when you try to get on later and there is no space. Bands are beginning to limit their sizes and they have realised that beyond a certain number they cannot guarantee the safety of the masquerader, in addition to which they lose the ability to give the masquerader a truly great overall experience. So what you will find is that the bands who offer great costumes and a good on the road experience will become harder and harder to get into. And of course for the new bands people who were there first giving the support, taking the gamble will always get preference, as it should be.By the way a little birdie told me that that two of Spice's sections are already pre-booked and fully sold out before the laucnh. And those two costumes like the rest are blow mind right up there Brown Sugar and Sea Salt .I'll tell ya'll the names after the review next week. Intested to see what the review says on those 2 first.

hot, i think the real issue that some past TRIBE masqueraders have is that we were told that if you played in 2008, that we should have received a TLC. to date, alot of us that registered and played with TRIBE in 2008 haven't received our TLC...and that is the problem: it was explictly stated that we would get a TLC and we haven't received said item. and the extra frustration/apprehension/sucking salt is added that those that haven't received said promised TLC would have issue registering because we are thinking we will be registering with the general public.

and out about those pre-booked Spice sections...interesting!!! unfair, but interesting....when is SPICE commencing their registeration for the general public?

Anonymous said...

Will check on the registration part but it should be sometime soon, once the launch is complete this weekend. From what I understand what has happened is people who have seen the costumes in those two sections wanted to book them right away and what started as a partial accomodation kept rolling along. I have seen pictures for all of the sections from the photoshoot and they are in my opinion pretty impressive. The designers deserve serious credit. But I guess the public will be the ultimate judge come Saturday.

ok, I called TRIBE and an email will be sent out re: collection of TLCs for newbies and launch info. Apparently TLCs were given out at Cascadia during costume distribution this year for first timers, but some people either did not know or did not collect.

dajewel1982 said...

hot, that is still not solid justification on SPICE's part...to me, they are playing favorites. if you open registration for some, open for all...give everyone a chance...i guess they trying to create an air of exclusivity...perhaps that "partial accomodation" (which in my mind doesn't make since...its like asking someone if your pregnant and the person replies "kinda sort of"...its either you are or your arn't...you get my point?) is a marketing tactic...

thanks for your help with this TLC foolywang!!

dajewel1982 said...

i meant to say, "saucy, thanks for your help with this TLC foolwant."

dajewel1982 said...

saucy, when is this said email going to be sent out from TRIBE?

FASHION GOONIE said...

Saucy thanks for your help with this TLC information. Still dont understand why they could not have just emailed me my TLC when I have been asking for it for over 7 months now.

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

the email should be sent out soon since it will also contain info on the launch!

dajwel1982 I see your point. But you might want to consider that there have been a lot of friends, family, other well-wishers and supporters who have helped the band to get off the ground. I happen to be one of those persons. And I appreciate the fact that Spice has given this concession to me and the other early Spice supporters. Nothing about this is exclusive they are just making sure that the early supporters get first dibs to paydown on a costume of choice. I think for all the voluntary help this is only fair.

dajewel1982 said...

hot, i understand your point. however, SPICE would look better in my eyes if they somehow gave the general public chance to register in said sold-out sections or some type of concession...

Elma Felix said...

I recieved a flyer in my inbox from TRIBE about the launch....but no TLC. Look how they have me beggin!!! Thanks saucy...and i'm in the same boat as you carnival enthusiast...
