Feather shipments are being delayed due to yet another
bird flu retro virus outbreak in China. After speaking with the Ministry of Agriculture, I was informed that there is a delay of feathers coming into Trinidad from the United States
without proper documentation as they do not allow ANY importation of feathers from China. All feathers must have an accompanying health certificate from the USDA along with letter from the company from which they were purchased, in addition, all feathers have to originate in the USA.
My sources state that it may take some doing to get feathers without the required documentation in time for Carnival however, most of the larger bands are not being affected by this recent development but the small, medium and bands late to launch will be undoubtedly be affected.

AHEM!!!! dat article looking familiar!!!
from i see it say "most of the larger bands are not being affected..." i could breathe a sigh of relief.
dyam again i thought this ting got sorted out i get my feathers from china lol
Isn't it about time people start sourcing feathers from elsewhere? As opposed to China which has this bird flu problem and where birds are live-plucked, which causes immense pain?
i guess u can source else where but its all about price at the end of the day america is expensive
So ture.. Price is important
fyi bird flu isn't a retro virus, it's an influenza virus just like the ones that circulate and people get every year. It's just a different strain which is much more deadly..couldn't help but make the correction lol..but I'm just glad the larger bands wont be affected since that's where I'll be lol! Good Luck to all the other bands though :)
