Imagine my surprise when looking for footwear that I stumbled upon this
website which is advertising that they manufacture Carnival Costumes, Brazilian Carnival Costumes to be exact with a photo of TRIBE's 2009 section
Spangled Cotinga in their header!
Explore the site some more and they are also advertising Bird of Paradise, Green Honey Creeper, Pheasant as well as a section from Poison 2004, Golden Cockfight!
They even have Spice costumes advertising on another
website:
Best part of all is their quote ofr $30-90US per costume and that they take TT/Western Union!!
I was reliably informed that none of the costumes advertised here were manufactured in China or by this company, which makes it even more interesting as this company has gone so far as to watermark the costume photos as their property!
It is just amazing to me that this company is so blatantly stealing costume designs using photos right off TRIBE and Poison's website and passing them off as their own... just amazing! Hopefully the bands that have been plagiarized have some sort of patent or copyright and can take the necessary action to have these photos removed.

Saucy,
Didn't thistopic come up some months ago? I wouldn't doubt that these so called "designers" won't pay next to nothing for a free "costume design". If that's the case then why is it that after so long no-one is doing anything over legal rights of pictures?
I know there are some real designers who survive on pure talent but for the others, being fake gets you nowhere.
Im Not Surprised. china Is the Mecca For Teefing Odder People Ting and palming it Off as they Own. Just Pass On charlotte Street You Could find Everything From.. "Addibas" and "PMUA" Sneakers To "cucci" handbags..
Food For though doh eh..... The Chinese Doh copy unsellable crap.... hmmmm...
hmmm.....so no lawsuit coming?
Would be interesting to do an undercover purchase and see what you get!
That’s funny there was a show over here about the imitation industry in China and part of the problem was that the companies that get their goods imitated a lot of them had their products made there in the first place, to cut cost, then somewhere along the line the patterns are passed on to the counterfeiters to produce the imitation brand which are sometimes just as good.
I wonder if they will be selling an imitation Mc Farlane…..
alot of bands get their costumes made in china... so its no suprise that you would find this...
china companies selling designs from their trini clients... big deal...
i think what you guys should focus on is the price they are being sold for...
AROUND $600 TT per costume... and thats retail... so i wonder how much the bands get them for in bulk....
then ask yourself...
if the costume cost $600... is the experience really worth the additional $2000+ that you pay to play?
wow, Investigative Sauce!! You never cease to amaze me.
Hmmm. Is this a chicken and egg situation? Which came first? I volunteer my legal services to write the Cease and Desist letter.
The curiouser and curiouser.
I agree with redwhiteblack and Hard.....it would be interesting to get a sample and compare...and Hard this is why it is very hard for me to pay too much money on a costume..i know dem people not paying much money for them things they buying in bulk....
The fact they used pictures from Tribes website makes me think that something is not right with this vendor. When you did the post on Pekar, he actually displayed pics that he took; to prove that they indeed were in his possession.
I remember Richard and Anthony production did stating that they designed Spangled Cotinga and Green Honeycreeper; but it was manufactured elsewhere. Maybe they are the people that made these costumes. So to all of the people that was bashing the production of these sections, you now found out who made them; instead of people insulting the designers.
Sometimes if a vendor cannot get one particular item, they would go to another vendor without you knowing to get the job done. Maybe this vendor made some of the materials used to make these costumes.
Well folks, i have been laying low for a while but this post HAS BROUGHT ME out.
wasn't, but,... ent???? as far as i know.... but...
dem ppl REALLLL bowlface yes. red white and black good suggestion.
well peeps, i have seen the costumes and i have made my choice and strangely enough after all the hype over loulan, no body was looking at that costume! i find that so strange, it is beautiful but with all the others on show...there is serious competition for a favourite.
