Spice Registration Begins Today

Coming three weeks after their band launch, Spice mas camp opens today for registration of past masqueraders from 12 noon to 8Pm. The new mas camp is located on the corner of Robert and Rosalino Streets. Check out Afro Chic's blog for a photo of the location with the boat out front.

The website is also due to go live today, truth be told I was expecting the website to be up and running already to give potential masqueraders a preview of costumes AND prices, especially since the down payment information has not been made available. As far as I know the down payment is $1500.00TT on frontline costumes and $1000.00TT on regular costumes.

And when it comes to prices seems like people's call for lower prices was heeded, expect an adjustment of the prices by approximately $50.00US less than the prices I published last week, I am guessing costumes will start at around $3200.00TT, of course wait for the "official" prices from the mas camp/website for confirmation.

Look out for post Spice Mas Camp visit photos later day, hopefully with some very good close up shots for you guys.

Follow me on TWITTER for updates from Spice mas camp from 12noon

Strange way of operation, they're opening for registration but no prices up yet? So people are just going to register without knowing how much the costume they want is priced at?

I stayed up til after 1 this morning waiting for the website to go up :/

What happended to Spice? Like they forget how last year they were up and running the night of their launch? They shoulda try and maintain that man.

AC like i said to you guys from one of his(nicholas pena) comments on FB about the price thing I think everything is occurring simultaneously. I've been saying from the time that message came out that, that is madness! Prices and Website should've been already up and running

hmmm this doesn't bode well. Is reg starting at 12 noon online too? Isn't that in 2.5 hours?! How can people be ready to register in 2.5 hours when they still haven't seen close-up pictures, official prices, payment information, etc.? Crazy.
As for the price reduction, $50US is a very good step in the right direction. Still makes the cheapest costume £50 more than I paid last year, so personally I would have liked a $100US reduction! lol

LOL...why am I not surprised they would lower the prices? LOL I expected that after people made a fuss...let's see if Tribe does the same thing...i.e. work with people's budget..

SLK, that's exactly what I was thinking - the reduction should be $100 US. Especially where most of their backlines neared or crossed $600 US not including additions like whole piece, boyshorts etc.

people you don't have to pay that sort of money these mas bands are asking for, you can get your costumes online for as low as £45 from the factories in India and China which is where these mas bands are ordering their costumes from, you can just send the photos of the section you want to play in and they will make it for you
a group of us came to Trinidad this year and we brought our costumes from a factory in China and played with a band and enjoyed ourselves more than those who paid thousands we are doing the same for 2010
go to www.topcorp.en.alababa.com this is one of the top factories
also for more but this will take a longer search, tpye in your search box "Carnival Costume Factories In China Or India2 and you will get tones of factories on line
but you dont have to spend that sort of foolish money these mas bands are asking for
ken out of england
