So after a long delay the website is up, with some minor glitches, and apart from the fact that it is somewhat laborious to get to the section/costume you want to view by clicking so many options (click Catalog...click Sections..click Caspian Sea.. Click Male or Female or Frontline...) I think it HILARIOUS that none of the frontline costumes offer bra sizes past 32D. The backline costumes however go up to 38DDD and 40DD.
I think the website is cool, loved the intro, just wished it was a bit user friendly, at least they have back shots of all the costumes!

I have nothing to say about the site.
Just wanted to be the first person to post. That is all.
The site not workin too good for me. It seems that two or more pages are superimposed on each other, making it very difficult to see anything
DQ i was wonder if it was my computer or my connection or me.....seems not
is it that spice is limiting plus size babes to be backline bettys
I wonder if that size restriction is going to make the papers and cause a bachanal and lead people to think that Spice is racist/size-ist/everydamnthing-ist a la Nylon Pool and Tale of Benguela?
The website is working fine for me, and looks like i could register now if i wanted to! (via paypal though, horrible thing). I thought only previous masqueraders allowed to register at the moment?
Last years website was WAY better though, this is obv just a template website they have copied their info into.
Prices are listed in US$ (why?!? are Spice in America - no!), but downpayment is actually paid in TT$ (on backlines is $1,030)
40DD does not account for a woman who actually has large breasts..that is a slightly plus sized woman with average sized breast....what about the woman who wears a DDD or G, she can't play mas too?? Or is her money just not good enough for Spice. Hmph!!
Up to DDD/E in the backline sections IS.
Some of allyuh ever consider that maybe the band actually DOES cater to big busted women and just because size DDD/GGG whatever not listed online doh mean allyuh won't be accomodated??.. so if some of allyuh REALLY interested before allyuh go off the deep end it probably best to call them the Mas camp and simply ASK... :)))
Have a great day...
Ok Aye Aye so how the people registering online getting that information or option? Are they to register then call the mas camp or call the mas camp and then register over the phone? If the sizes are available why not make them a choice on the website? Seems like the common sense thing to do instead of having someone waste a phone call!! Not everyone would THINK to call if they see the size missing.
Wow Kenny, you are gangsta with your hustle. I'll keep you in mind if none of the other bands tickle my fancy with their offerings ;)
Saucy now seriously. If you look on a clothing rack and don't see your size are you not going to ask the manager? If you buying something online and you dont see the color and you really want it would you not call to find out when or if it is available elsewhere? That question of how people would know to call makes no sense. Perhaps just perhaps the sizes may be available but in limited supply or upon request. That is the band's prerogative to play or not to play if said band does not cater to my needs.
I meant to say in the last sentence:
It is the band’s prerogative to choose what market they cater to and it is our responsibility as consumer to make wise decisions as to who we play or do not play with.
As far as I know it is standard procedure that Canrivalband websites list all sizes available, is it so hard so ask that Spice does this as well?
Maybe I am too spoiled, but I am NOT calling a mas camp to ask for my size if it is not online or if there is not a blank space saying "other" where I can type it in!
And if I see my size is not there well moving along.. it IS their prerogative, hence the reason I will not call to ask otherwise.
There is nothing on the website saying to call/contact them if your size is not available, maybe they should put that there.
I totally agree with saucy....this is a business and life should always be made easier for the consumer.
On another note I called the mas camp at around 1:10pm and this is what transpired
Ring Ring Ring
Spice Girl: Good afternoon you have reached spice mas camp how I can help you
Me: Hey I am calling to find out if the sizes that I am seeing online are all that is available
Spice Girl:Ammmmmm what do you mean
Me: well you see I observed that the sizing chart in frontline goes to 32D and I was wondering if I would be able to get Wings of Isis in 38DDD
Spice Girl: *Gasp* I don't think so but let me check.........she goes off and I overhear the conversion which I can sum up to be that the two people in the background not sure but she should tell the customer that to call back and that the corset option will be available. She comes back and tells me this
Me: Thank you very much
Spice Girl: Please call back and I will definitely check it for you.
End of convo
I must say the girl sounded young yet professional and I must congratulate spice for her manner, however in my opinion I think that all the details of available sizes, options and sections should be known by all spice personnel
IJ played with them last year and I am a 38f, i had to pay 200 dollars extra, but I had the advantage of a friend booking the costume on my behalf, so yes they do cater for the fuller breasted woman (well at least they did!!), but I guess its a matter for the masqueraders to pursue, rather than Spice offering the information, makes life similiar for them
having checked the website myself just now, unless they have updated it since, the frontlines i checked went up to 36C
i'm happy with site and was able to get the costume i wanted.isis!! but there was no size chart for the belts or the bottoms. and i wish they would have shown photo's of the actual binki vs the thong. when i look at the models i can't tell if she has on a thong or a bikini because of the belts being in the way. i was a bit pissed about the frontline being up to 36c. i prefer to play isis backline or rubies backline because i like them better, but i don't like the idea that i couldn't if i wanted too. and now i'm wondering should i support a band who discriminates against fuller woman (me being 36dd).
my friend and i realized that the costumes must be premade(and not made to order like tribe) because when she typed in she wanted a 38dd bra and large bikini, the computer told her to select another size combo becuase they had already sold out of the combo she wanted (????) so she pick a xl bikini and hopes to swop with someone.. (i had the same problem, i wanted a large bikini had to get xl)i just hope 2010 turns out to be a good year..*sigh* i'm still waiting for ip
I called the mascamp a while ago andthe girl I spoke with (Natalia) told me that there is nothing larger than 36C in FL.
And there is no option to bring in your bra if your biggerthan what is listed on the site.
AC I just called and they told me the same thing, FL up to 36C.
yip i called back and natalie told me 36C
hmmmmmmmmmmmm
I've just spoken to someone in Spice Carnival band. I'm inquiring about the costumes. My favorite one is Adulis, unfortunately there's no tankini or corset available. I asked the lady can I purchase my own corset and send it Federal Express to Spice to be decorated. The reply was no: The reason is that the corset are being made overseas and they have no materials here at the Camp to decorate the corset. I guess the same goes with if you purchase a larger size bra. The lady informed me that the largest size bra is:40DD or40DDD in corset.
She also informed me please decide as soon as possible because the larger sizes tend to sell out fast.
I thought SpiceCarnival is a band created by women for women.
I thought SpiceCarnival is a band cater to women. Cater to women of all sizes, creed, and race.
Just what I was going to say Elsa. As a band that came out last year professing to be run by women and about women... this is a slap in the face to all those very same women.
All the best to Spice, but I hope they heed this post and the past mistakes of Tribe... and do better.
Elsa- cosign.
I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the sizing practices being employed by Spice. Do we need to revisit their mantra of being for "all women" that they capitalized on in their inaugural media launch for C2K9?
Now one year later, you STILL can't get a 36C in a bra, or even supply your own bra for custom-making? When are local and overseas masqueraders (both male and female) going to WAKE UP and start speaking out against these atrocious, sizist attitudes? Have we not had to deal with this enough elsewhere, that we now have to put up with this in Carnival, that is supposed to be for everyone, by everyone?
Some hell of a cultural reform this is!!
*sigh*
One more reason to stay with TRIBE!
Spice's website is a'ight, but it keeps crashing my computer so my opinion is biased by that.
And I feel people really need to call Spice out with that sizing issue. Sounds like a load of rubbish. How can other bands mange to accommodate people sending in their own bras? Where is the stellar service Spice bragging about in all their emails/FB updates now?
Nonetheless, I wish Spice the best. The more competition, the better for the masquerader at the end of the day.
Why should I have to call to find out about options being offered? The website should show all options. A good service would have a complete website. Spice, you cannot have the best recipe for Carnival without good service. You are competing with Tribe so get ya act together nuh man is yuh 2nd year. You supposed to be getting better not worse.
Okay, so this might be me being picky, but I just have to say that I am thoroughly irritated by the untidy nature of Spice's costumes in the pix on their website. It just drives my crazy to see glue strings and threads hanging everywhere. Why am I seeing fraying fabric etc. I remember last year that their display costumes were also looking slightly abused.
I am happy for the close up shots of the waistbands etc, but oh gosh man. At least try to hide the imprefections nah! Steups
S...you are def not picky. At tose prices we must demand perfection!
Ashy elbows and all...no photoshopping for sure!
