L'Echo de Marchandes is the second section released in
Mas Jumbies J'ouvert 2010 presentation
L'Echo. About the section:
L'Echo des Marchandes Female only section @ TT$400.00 and comes in 3 colours.
They were once a familiar sight in Port-of-Spain in the late 19th and early 20th century. These vendors who exclusively were women would be seen and heard peddling their various array of goods from door to door. They dressed in the fashion of a la Martiniquaise and carried trays above their heads with the different array of goods, usually sweets and sweet meats.

Love this one. Never saw a J'Ouvert costume with so much costume for that price. It is very unlike the typical J'Ouvert band. Have they always done this?
Mas Jumbies has two years under their belt and they have given a "costume" as opposed to a t shirt since inception.

Thanks Saucy, I now saw them. The last time I played mas in T&T was 2006 and they were not around as yet. So since I am umemployed, I will be coming home for Carnival in 2010 and was looking for something other than norm.
MAS Jumbies J'Ouvert is extremely refreshing. I paid about $300.00 with a popular band to play J'Ouvert 3 years ago and received what amounts to less than 1/4 of this costume!
I got one infant sized enamel cup, an xxxl t-shirt (may I mention I'm a very slender size 4, so this was like a humongo night sack!) and an all inclusive service that offered ham-and-hops; an after-J'Ouvert 'treat' that I am still waiting on!
L'Echo is so worth it. Great Job, MAS Jumbies/Brian!
