Last night was the first of an eight week Carnival Series on Synergy TV, Bacchanal Factory, a collaboration between Triniscene.com and Scorch Magazine. The hour long show featured segments with Hypa Hoppa , Ronnie Mc Intosh and of course my little gossip blurb that ended the show.
So, since I know many of you tuned in to the Bacchanal Factory based on the numbers logged on the blog chat box, what are your thoughts, criticism or comments on the show? Since I am involved in the feature I will reserve MY opinion and look forward to yours!
Bacchanal Factory.. bringing the bacchanal or bored to tears?

i usually6 get irritated by anything scorch related, so i had it on mute until the saucy segment :P
crickets...
only interesting part was Ronnie's story about SOCA Monarch...
they shudda ask Pricey to host the whole show as well...
i want back my hour...
Same ting I saying re: Pricey to host.
Dat show had NO Bachannal and I want back the hour of my life that was wasted please.
lol@ quicksilver's comment...put pricey as the host
I want back my 57mins...and I want it now!!!The show was all helta sketla,It had no sequence in my opinion. I was watching the show from the time it came on and I was confused!!Keeping up with the Kardashians have more order than that!!
It was like wathcin Niall, Hoppy and That Sophie chick sit down and talk during work....and why it is I had to watch Niall and Benjai play basket ball???
But I don't know about Pricey as host, there is only so much of Pricey I can take.
The concept is great, but unfortunately the execution failed to deliver.
My main suggestion is to cut the show down to 30 minutes. The audience should not be made to suffer for the writers' lack of material.
The hosts need to learn how to project their voices towards the mic, while addressing each other at the same time. Hoppy was having an intimate conversation with his laptop for the majority of the Scorch Team segments. mumble mumble mumble
The content could truly be improved upon. We did not need the walk-thru of anybody's house, nor was the basketball game necessary, and the hosts should have more solid talking topics. The backstage interviews were alright, and so was Ronnie's storytelling.
Saucy's segment truly redeemed the entire production and I offer my congratulations to her on a super-duper job.
My hope is that over the next few weeks, with the increase in the number of parties/ competitions/topics of interest, the quality of the programme will improve such that it would be worthy of an hour of my attention.
PS--I have to vote vehemently AGAINST that Pricey-for-Host campaign.
There was no bacchanal whatsoever. Except when Rachel Price started to talk. I don't necessarily like Rachel Price but she was quite entertaining last night.
Other than that, there was no gossip... nothing.
And Sauce, why were you in the dark talking about ticket prices? I thought that was bizzare. Ususally, someone is in the dark if they are talking some REAL bacchanal, divilging secrets, stirring the pot. But there you were shrouded in darkness talking about fete prices. The only reason I watched the show was to tune into your segment. Throughout the programme, I thought, Saucy's segment will be worth this... but no.
The concept of the show is okay. But it should be called "Carnival Lime" NOT Bacchanal Factory.
And somebody tell Sophie to stop staring at Hoppy the whole time. Sheesh. And tell Hoppy he could try to be a bit friendlier to the audience and his co-hosts. He appeared as though he thought he was above it all.
All in all I give the show 4.5/10.
Saucy oy, I love me some Sauce and everyt'ing eh, but wha' de arse was THAT!?!!
They should've put your segment on FIRST so we can sign off early and spare ourselves of the foolishness they called a tv show.
Saucy, you were the ONLY sensible feature last night.
The rest was a hodge-podge of non-correlative stuff and zero bacchanal. Also unfortunately the jumptv.com feed was slow like dial-up (even on high-speed connection) *sigh*
Big long watery steups.
MY VERDICT: Absolute f**kry.
I agree with shortening the length as well...but to a 10 minute blurb between shows. :)
well it was a bunch of crap but the sauce was the only reason I wanted view in
yeah 30 mins max
awful from beginning to end absolute foolishness! don't attach your name to this f@ckry stay away from the nonsense, stick to your own thing, wait for something better to attach yourself too........ no lie it was so bad it disturbed me, I can't believe this was on the bloody tv wow!yeesshhhh!
I want to add something constructive. The show clearly does not cater to the "trinidadcarnivaldiary" readership. I am guessing that Synergy TV is not a channel that most of us ever really tune-in to. The only reason most of us had our TV's on Synergy last night at 10pm was because Saucy posted it, and since we are fans of this blog, we expected to see this blog in TV format (exciting stuff)!
But this TV programme caters to the usual Synergy audience. I think that those people who actually like Trinidad's Next Top Model, TT's Number 1 Dance Crew, Soca Star, and those other Synergy shows, probably liked this. My 12 year old nephew would probably really like this programme (the basketball, the DJ's and Soca Stars etc). The thing is, Synergy, once again, has come up with a bad imitation of an MTV type show (and while this blog's readership is too discerning to like that kind of thing, the formula seems to be popular with the younger Trinbagonians).
The other thing is, as I mentioned before, the name of the programme is very misleading. So if I tune-in to get some carnival gossip and bacchanal, but I have to watch JW and Blaze acting silly in the studio, followed by two soca artists playing basketball, followed by JW dressing for a party, followed by a lady in the dark talking about fete prices (becasue not everybody reads this blog or knows about "the sauce")then I am going to be very annoyed and dissapointed
So, if Synergy hoped to attract a wider audience with this show, it has failed miserably. BUT if they are/were making a show to entertain its already exisiting audience, then perhaps job well done.
I for one will look at it one more time to see if the feedback has helped the show. I also want to see "The Sauce" talk about some REAL bacchanal like only she can. If the show is pretty much the same as this week, that'll be it for me.
My take is simply a bunch of Trinidadians trying to make themselves famous or stay in the spotlight whether they should be there or not. The likes of Huppy, Sophie and all these people who doh really add nuch to anything. Why not have a tv show about Carnival, its history and our culture with important Icons, that is geared towards a young crowd instead of rubbish.
All in all: mostly rubbish.
The Sauce's part I enjoyed. Also the actual fete coverage, Amnesia, bit with Denise Belfon in the tent, was the only part where I didn't ignore the tv.
Otherwise what I saw was: some white girl with foot cock up like she in she house, and some guy with dreads and shades on his blackberry ignoring both the audience and his coworkers.
Shit!
I didn't expect 'bacchanal' in the real sense of the word, but Price's part was entertaining, though I had no idea to whom she was referring, but that's what we like! Ba-ccha-nalllll!!!!!
To chris: As a (fairly) young Trinbagonian, I don't think I deserve this quality of show, no matter my age. Do you mean to imply that the readers of this blog in some way have...what kind of tastes exactly?
I've never been a Synergy viewer, but it is an entertainment channel, and it is the biggest entertainment event of our year. Makes sense that those who aren't regular viewers may want to tune in.
Chris, just for information sake, unlike all other programs on air at STV at this time , "Bacchanal Factory" is not one of Synergy TV's production but a TriniScene production. TriniScene has just used Synergy TV as a platform to air the series.
Failed horribly....I didnt have patience for it,,,,sorry...i'm not interested in anything they discussed and I'm no fan of the "It" man hoppy and his friends....just does NOT rock my boat....i so vex i watch that sh!#
