Bye bye Bengal Tiger

It has been confirmed, the section "Bengal Tiger" in Bliss has been dropped for being the "least popular" section. Funny, it was my favourite and #1 choice in Bliss.

Bliss "Savage Beauty" The Saucy Review

Ten points let's go:

1. I must admit I have often thought that when it came to costume design Bliss got treated like TRIBE's step sister, an afterthought with costumes that just didn't make the cut for TRIBE. I was pleasantly surprised that costumes reflected theme (not all) and that generally they are pretty costumes with some that stood out more than others. Good job.

2.Having new designers to Bliss  Melissa James, Ruana Booker and Solange Shaw Gopaul certainly gave it a bit more variety as they added their own aesthetic.

3. Quita Correria has probably done her best work ever in TRIBE/Bliss.

4. I think headpiece of the year goes to Cobra (so far) as it is one of those costumes were you look at it and immediately get an idea of the theme.

5. Lion Fish, Cobra and Bengal Tiger are stand outs in relation to theme for me though I would have done away with the Isis Wings/Cape for Cobra frontline. The backline costumes are also, to me personally, very strong on their own, being very much still on theme with the animal print, beading and headpieces carrying through to the backline as well.

6. Was the Luna Moth a last minute addition to appease those with butterfly jealousy?

7.I don't get the point of Punchy Punch having a section, especially one of the most popular sections Cobra.

8. I don't get the point of a VIP section in what is supposed to be the premium band.

9.Male costumes...no words.

10. My top picks in Bliss would be Lion Fish, Cobra, Bengal Tiger and Agama Lizard.

Bliss News!

No, I do not have the band launch date for Bliss though it is rumoured to be Friday July 27, the day before Fantasy's. Anyway what I do have is some more details about the theme ans costumes as Bliss photo shoot was done recently.

I was told that the "savages" are from both sea and land, with section names such as Volcano, Sea Scorpion, Lion Fish, Cobra and Lizard. From all reports the costumes are looking well finished, well decorated and very much on theme with the preliminary stand outs being Lion Fish and Cobra. The other thing heard, however, is that there are no WOW pieces albeit the costumes are very much on theme and you can tell what the represent by looking at them, apart from a few which fall in the generic category.

Lion Fish is reportedly black and silver while Cobra is supposedly an ethereal looking mint, turquoise and gold. I was also told that TRIBE section leader Solange Shaw Gopaul has one or more sections in Bliss for the first time and that Cobra is one of here.

Guys, I also heard that the headpieces and costuming also reflect the theme in your costuming so that is something to look forward to!

The V.I.P. section remains with Bliss (there were earlier reports of discussions to migrate to Fantasy) and I heard their costume has already been selected,

Remains to be seen, I am actually very excited for Bliss launch now.... announce the date already!

Battle of the Savages!

Well done TRIBE for sticking to the theme "Savage Beauty", which is the theme of Bliss 2013.

If you do not know what I am talking about then you need to re read this post from March 20:  http://www.trinidadcarnivaldiary.com/2012/03/sohow-does-theme-get-stolen-exactly.html where I asked the question how does a theme get stolen.

I cannot WAIT for band launch season to begin!
