The tradition continues tonight!

So, we are hours away from TRIBE's launch and I have a busy morning with going to the hairdresser, having my lashes done and making a pit stop to pick up a new memory card for my camera (bigger memory card means more pics!!!). The excitement for the launch tonight is overwhelming, I feel almost as anxious as I do on Carnival Tuesday morning when I am waiting for sun up to start putting on my costume!

For those of you who know me from the days I was a member of Islandmix forums you will remember the contagious exhilaration that would take over the forum when a launch was to take place and then the subsequent frustration by those overseas knowing they had to wait on one of the photo website for pics. Consequently I promised to post pics from TRIBE's launch in 2005 and a tradition was born!

Tribe 2005

Last year, until the wee hours of the morning following TRIBE's launch, I was again at my computer uploading pics for those poor souls patiently waiting at their computer for the first glimpse of a plume, bead and sequin of a costume! I also expanded my contribution to include Island People and other launches.. and during that time the blog was born and well, history was created!

Tribe 2006

Today or should I say tonight/tomorrow the tradition continues and I will be uploading photos from TRIBE's launch once again. The show starts at midnight and I anticipate it going on for over and hour, which means that this year pics will be going up around 3:00am conservatively. I have already made arrangements to make a pit stop to upload pics so I do not have to even wait until I get home so hopefully your first view of TRIBE's costumes will be a bit earlier, but I am sticking with 3:00am to be safe.

To all those attending the launch later I am looking forward to an out of this world experience and I just might see you there. For those who cannot be here I promise to try my best to capture every aspect of the event and hope that it can be translated in photos!

Animal Instinct update

Just a tiny bit of news for those curious if to buy those leopard print boots; I have been reliably informed that though there are sections using animal prints those sections are a minority. The costumes have been described as "different", "Hot" and "Hot". As usual Island People is trying to keep as much information under wraps as possible before the unveiling !

TRIBE section names!!

Thanks to 'rah for the following information (good looking out girl!)

Butterfly Bliss
Titania
Water Nymph
Autumn Sprite
Mystique
Pixie Dust
Amalthea
Black Magic
Lady of the Lake
Goddess of the Chase
Isis
Luna
Myth of Babylonia
Mystical India
Silver Mist
Sun Goddess

To add to that I think Black Magic is Monique Nobrega's section, Butterfly Bliss is Gail Cabral's, Mystical India is Quita Correira's and Silver Mist is Leasel Rovedas. The teaser costume in yesterday's Express is "Autumn Sprite".

Not so blind item (borrowed from Perez)

Which popular band is apparently working magic to have their website up and running on Monday. I am not sure if to believe this myth until I see it with my own two eyes!

Seems like ONE band launch is too much for this band, plans are in the works to go above and beyond what everyone is expecting and have TWO launches instead. The first a Broadway style production at Queen's Hall that will leave guests wondering if they are seeing "Lion King" and the second billed as a huge party for their sexy masqueraders. Hope people do not act like animals when they realise the first launch might be special invited guests only!!

Finally how could it be that one plans on keeping a launch where all the rum in Trinidad is made and one does not secure a bar license? Reads like a Hollywood production to me, are we to believe then that the venue was the demise of the launch that failed to take off?

Breaking News.. Harts Launch Canceled!

Due to "Administrative Issues" Harts band launching, slated for tonight, has been canceled!! All persons with tickets can either go into the mas camp for a refund or put the payment towards their costume for Carnival 2008.

However, please note that the mas camp WILL be open for registration on Monday July 30th and the website is expected to be up in two weeks time.

Looks like I will have to be making a trip to the mas camp on Monday to get some costume details (and hopefully photos) for all those overseas masqueraders who were eagerly anticipating viewing Harts costumes tomorrow.

This has been quite a surprise today! That means TRIBE's launch will officially be kicking off band launching season for Trinidad Carnival 2008.
