Carnival 2012 Update
67 Days before Carnival 2012 and lets see where we are at. TRIBE's Runway Section is SOLD OUT, if you are still waiting on prices "details coming soon" according to their website sorry to break it to you. I would also love to know if their is a male costume to this section because curiously there has not been any photos showing such. The costume looks very nice in person but SO skimpy, Brazilian Wax definitely needed!
Pulse 8, still waiting on the remaining two sections to be released!
And for the first time in history I switched bands and signed up for a costume in DECEMBER! Crazy isn't it but I will no longer be with Bliss for Carnival 2012 though I am still excited to hear how that experience is for my friends who are with Bliss as well as I really want to see TRIBE on the road since I got a sneak peek of Ibiza's headpiece , my favourite section.
I will be testing out new band K2K Alliance for the "marse" and YUMA for the "mas"; which band on which day is still up in the air but I am really looking forward to trying something new and different. Testing the theory on just how much costume adds to your overall Carnival experience and finally having a new experience to compare to all my years with TRIBE. Standards are set VERY high to K2K and YUMA you have to come really good !

Destra Clears The Air
This just in from Destra's camp:
Dear Trini Carnival Diary,
Thanks so much for running the story re her retirement - we greatly appreciate your support and interest in Destra.
However to clear the air, Destra is in fact not pregnant and has no concrete retirement plans to end her career anytime soon.
In 2013, she is aspiring to expand her family by having another baby, and if she is blessed enough for this to happen, she will be exploring all the options open to her regarding her career.
Right now her focus is on making Carnival 2012 a bumper year (no pun intended) and is working hard to ensure she delivers an amazing repertoire of music and a high energy top notch routine for the season.
She is also getting ready to relaunch www.mydestra.com and we will keep you posted on the exact date (hint - we looking at this Friday).
Kind Regards
PR and marketing.

Salt Cure For D Mas
Salt has debuted some actual protoypes for their Carnival 2012 presentation and I have to say the costumes are interesting and adds nicely to the growing number of bands that have not chosen to go the "bikini and beads route" such as X 2012, K2K Alliance, Brian Mac Farlane, SOBEIT, Just Friends and The Word.
Also I see the band leaders for Salt listed as Keith McLean and Earl Patterson, I know the latter from his involvement in Wayne Berkeley, Masquerader and Woi!Mas so definitely some history and experience in Salt. Hopefully they reveal more costume pictures soon and a website, for now check out their Facebook Page:
