Monday Wear....

I have already established that I am not wearing my costume on Monday and by now it is confirmed that TRIBE is not giving Monday wear nor will there be official TRIBE baby T's or vests on sale. All you Island People masqueraders are very lucky to not have the headache of thinking of what to wear come Monday, since I am now faced with the dilemma of what to wear on Monday!

My brilliant plan to wear a "costume" might be going down in flames as I changed my mind last minute on what I wanted for a variety of reasons. To get some inspiration I took a trek to Samaroos to see what ideas could be sparked and was overwhelmed with the variety of stuff they have on sale there. Out of that little trip however, I think I have a plan on what I might end up wearing, but everyone else I know is quite comfortable wearing just their costume or boy shorts and a baby T.

So to get an idea of if I am stressing too much on Monday wear I want to know what the other masqueraders will be sporting on Monday, if Monday wear is not being provided by your band/section.

How many of you are wearing your costume, baby t/vest and shorts or another costume? Please vote in the following poll. Feel free to leave comments as well!

What are you wearing on Carnival Monday?
Part of my costume - paid too much not to wear it on both days.
A baby T/vest and boy shorts - I want my costume fresh for Tuesday!
Another costume - I am a two band H.O.
My own "costume" or outfit created specially for Monday.. I like to be original.

Saucy I working Monday and Tuesday next week as well although I don't know what I will be doing in the office except studying Carnival :)

As for Monday wear I think I am sticking to my original idea but I guess it really going to depend come Monday. I know it don't matter what your girls wear but we have to travel to town and if they are wearing lets say jean skirts and tops then I don't know how I will feel in my beaded bikini I was planning on rocking :) but I know once I reach town I will feel fine. The test comes this weekend when I put on my Monday wear at home and really decide. Regardless if I go with the bikini I will most likely carry boy shorts and a vest in my bag because it don't take up much room so I can cover up when traveling in and out of town.

I just really want my Monday wear to be fun - the section I am playing in was not my first pick but I will rock it and have a time anyhow, I ain't really studying it that much. But with that said that is why I not wearing my costume on Monday because it is my day to be creative and express myself.

In short - I am still confused lol

Hey folks!
I am wearing hot shorts - there was an option to buy them along with my Dragon costume - the bra, boots and I just might do the hat thing.

Well I bought real cute shorts but I'm just wearing the bra from my costume with them for Monday cause I really paid too much not to get some use out of it!! And I eh working anywhere so buying a top to wear once (cause you know everybody and they brother goin to see it!) didn't appeal to me!

i'll be wearing the bikini from the costume minus the little tidbits like the arm bands and the collar...
i paid too much money to let my costume waste.

diva show off nah with your "original creation" lol.

Jamette I will be breaking in my boots on Monday girl, no use looking for additonal footwear for Monday when my boots are perfect.

buuble nut I think if you are traveling you really need to have on shorts at least, next thing you give men in thetaxi heart attack in your sequined bikini LOL.

And wasn't it a pink thong sequined bikini?

Trinidad Carnival Diary said...

Sauce, girl, me eh know, nah! It would be fun to make something, but we will see if I have the time! If I don't, I should have a back-up outfit, which I may get today during my last minute shopping!

I'm prob just wearing my costume bc when I went last year (carnival virgin) my Trini friends just wore their costume bra and panties/belt without any of the accesories (arm/leg bands, headdress, etc.) and I followed suit as I didn't know any better.
The idea of Monday wear really appeals to me but I'm guessing this year they will do the same thing and therefor I will as well.

Oh well, I'l have fun either way!

I am wearing my boots from Natalie. They are too fab to wear just one day.. I dont know about the rest yet.. a shorts.. and maybe the top of my costume. Saucy, whats in Samaroos? My friend insists that we go there.. Also, did anyone find spirit gum in TT? How do allyuh get your rhinestones to stick?
PS. Sauce if u were still pondering a warrior spirit MOnday vibe.. there are some nice earrings in Westport looking very warrior spirit-ish.

Island Spice Samaroos is the Mecca of Carnival supplies; they have stockings, spirit gum, jewels, glitter, beads, feathers, hats, body paint...even boots! LOL

I heard spirit gum is what is used for the rhinestones, that and eyelash glue. I have never done rhinestones before, but did the stick on jewels that comes in the pack and got sun burnt with a pattern lol

I am not Warrior Spirit on Monday anymore but I guess others who are in Warrior Spirit might be able to get a match with ear rings :D

Saucy girl you holding me to that :) and cb you well paying attention I see :)

If I wear that in a maxi into town I will not make it to City Gate guaranteed LOL

Hi Saucy! A friend and I came up with a Monday outfit: skirt with shorts underneath and a tank top. Keep it really simple. It's my first time playing mas, and I don't want to wear a funky smelly outfit on Tuesday, or have the colors be a mismatch! LOL
