I'm not certain, but I think Jamaica Carnival and Bacchanal Jamaica Carnival are two different and separately funded organizations. Bacchanal Jamaica Carnival is still on. I received this message about costume distribution from the Baccahanal Jamaica facebook group:
Hi Guys,
Please note the following dates:
April 7
Pocahantos
Moulin Rouge
April 8
Casablanca (pretty costume)
April 14
La Dolce Vita
April 15
Babes
Frenchmen T-shirts
April 16
Stardust
Cleopatra
Moulin Rouge T-shirts
Time: 2.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.
Also, if you have missed your delivery date, you can still pick up your costume between 2-7 p.m. on any of the delivery dates (after your date has passed).
See you on the road!
Simone
I believe this article is referring to "Jamaica Carnival" http://www.jamaicacarnival.com/ which is different from bacchanal Jamaica Carnival, http://bacchanaljamaica.com/. Both Bacchanal Jamaica Carnival and "Jamaica Carnival" used to have raod marches but now the main carnival parade and festivites like Beach Jouvert happening this weekend, are produced by Bacchanal Jamaica and are still on for next weekend.
I hope that this cancellation does not draw a crowd of riff raff to Bacchanal carnival
Geez..this carnival in Jamaica thing is very confusing.
THEY ARE TWO CARNIVALS IN JAMAICA AS LAST YEAR BYRON LEE, MAKE CARNIVAL JAMAICA. THEREFORE THE BIGGER CARNIVAL WILL STILL BE ON.
