Are you a gambler?

Everyone who is a member of Elements facebook group got this little message last night:

"Don't Gamble Your Carnival Costume Money Until You've Seen Casino Royale" at Las Vegas, Pier 1 on Friday 8th August.

PREMIUM DRINKS INCLUSIVE
(Johnnie Walker Black, Grey Goose Vodka, Rum, Beer, shots & more)

LIMITED EDITION TICKETS $200

First off I like that their launch is premium drinks inclusive, that always gets the crowd in a relaxed party mood, however whomever was responsible for that piece of copy "Don't Gamble Your Carnival Costume Money...("which alludes to going with another band is taking a risk) should realise it reads as ironic since Elements is also a new band and the same can be said of them; taking a gamble on Elements as a newcomer is just as risky as playing with any other new band, I am just saying.

The countdown to Spice is on!

On a very cold rainy morning in Trinidad the hours are ticking away as we countdown to Spice's launch, and I have been following their website with the countdown clock since it launched, so expect to see it up and running by midnight! I am looking forward to this launch since I unavoidably missed Kaotic and Evolution was such a disappointment!

Island People Under Wraps!!!

Man I have been hearing NOTHING on Island People since my last teaser back in May, that is until today. The Pulse is reporting that Island People will launch their 2009 Carnival presentation "Heaven on Earth" on Sunday August 17th at a venue to be announced.

IPM director Dane Lewis this week said: “We are coming with a new concept so we are keeping venue and details for the launch close to our chest for the moment.”
Close to the chest is an understatement, for a minute there Island People's silence was beginning to get a tad worrying, anyway, I am sure now that we have an actual date Island People masqueraders can start planning for their launch!

I can say that I have heard cupid/love is the section with Victoria Secrets-feathered-down to the ground-WINGS and it will be red! The other sections thus far are:
zen

cupid/love

ierie

secret garden

chocolate dream

caribbean sun

angel falls

bird of paradise

Getting Ready To Fly.....

Yesterday afternoon I paid a visit to TRIBE's mas camp to collect TLC cards on behalf of two friends who are overseas when what could greet my eyes but the construction of giant birdcages!

Inside the mas camp had been transformed into a painted aviary and using my powers of deduction I surmised that each bird represents one of "Bird of a Feather's" 16 sections. And we have;

Toucan & Bird of Paradise
(obscured by open door)

Spangled Cotinga

Kiskadee

Green Honeycreeper

Scarlet Ibis

Blue and Red Macaw

Hummingbird

Orange Canary & Owl &Flamingo

Green Amazon Parrot

7 more days until the launch and 7 more MONTHS until Carnival, are you ready to FLY!?!?!

Spicy Scotch Bonnet...........

All 10 sections are ready to launch and they are all HOT!

This Saturday (19th July) at Zen - the full showcasing of the Spice presentation for Carnival 2009 - "The Missing Ingredient...." Presentation starts at 11pm.

You've seen Brown Sugar, Sea Salt and now snapshots of Scotch Bonnet. Be there on Saturday to witness the unveiling of Golden Basil, Mediterranean Borage, Garden of Sage, Cardamon, Melilot Bleu, Peppercorns and Paprika.

Also www.spicecarnival.com officially launches at midnight on Saturday.
Well, I heard that TWO sections of Spice are sold out already! During the preview interested people reserved space and the maximum of 200 persons per section were met for both of the "hot" sections. Have no fear, sources have revealed that they might increase the numbers for those sections, which would be the smart thing to do as how can you launch and have sections already sold out? I mean, leave a few costumes so it can sell out within the first ten minutes of registration like some other bands *cough* Silver Mist*cough!

More pictures of Scotch Bonnet to be revealed as we lead up to Spice's big launch on Saturday!

Email from TRIBE

So, got the official email from TRIBE announcing the band launch, though I posted that information on Monday; I am loving the colourful invitation by the way, a hint of the vibrant costumes to come perhaps?

Upcoming Events:

UK TRIBE Fete London – Sat 23rd Aug 2008

TRIBE IGNITE Miami - Thurs 9th Oct 2008

Seems like if you bought your costume from someone else you are sh*t out of luck for a TLC card since they will only be assigned to people who signed up at the camp during the initial period in August 2007!! That stipulation is going to make some people very unhappy, seeing as the costume resale market was a brisk trade. And how are overseas masqueraders going to collect their TLC by next Wednesday?? I am thinking this is part of TRIBE's plan to cut down the number of masqueraders in the band!!! The drama has begun.

In some more pleasant TRIBE news, I was chatting with my friend yesterday and she was giving me details of the decor TRIBE is doing for the launch since we both happen to know the designer who is working on it! Pier 1 is going to be transformed into a giant birdcage.....interesting! I am also seeing models in cages strategically placed around the venue, but maybe my imagination is just a bit too vivid!

p.s Ent I tell allyuh registration will start on August 9th? humph!
