Hi Saucy
Well it's another year and I loved my experience so far. I went to the Complex on Tuesday to collect my costume and I arrived at 4:12pm. I couldn't believe my eyes --- five cashiers and ZERO customers. Nada. Zilch. Awesome. So I paid and proceeded straight to the collection area.
Can you say minimal persons? Just only four persons collecting. This was at 4:16pm. So I proceeded to collect and everything was in place, no missing pieces (I had the same expereince last year so I'm good like that). I love my costume, Jaipur backline. My only caveat is that the belt is skinnier than I imagined. But then again all these belts look like super mini skirts on these minus size zero models so I'm used to that by now. Otherwise, I love. Just a side note, another young lady collected her Mudra costume and I had instant costume envy. Big time. These colors are even more BEAUTIFUL in person. Another woman picked up a Kundalini cosume and that one was just lovely. The online pics did no justice to that costume. IP looking good so far.
All in all, I was done by 4:19pm, that's 7 minutes in total. I waited for my friend to pick me up and I left after 5pm. Still no crowd.
If you can help it, don't stick at all, unless your section's date is late in the week, or you're not in Trinidad early in the week, or you didn't get paid as yet. Otherwise early collection is the business. Zero drama.
Enjoy the pics.
Carnivalcocoa out.

Dear Sauce
It seems as if the mas band Tribe is really an all-inclusive band catering to a select few.
Now don't get me wrong I am a masquerader who has played mas with this band for the past 3 years.
However, I must tell you that I am really ANGRY, when I saw your page this morning and saw the pictures of Mystery of Loulan. You see Sauce, this was my first pick and I fell in love with the costume since I saw it at the launch, subsequently it was said that this costume was an INDIVIDUAL, I even called the camp where the young lady who answered the phone informed me that individual means ONE.
Imagine my surprise to read this good morning that individual is a word Tribe manufactured to mean PREMIUM, I mean since when did Tribe become Oxford scholars who invented new words to suit their needs?
Who were the chosen ones that were privileged enough to get selected for this costume? And why was this information not released to the general public?
Now I am happy to say that I am a frontliner for the section Zari and my costume is gorgeous even though the wire bra will take a little getting used to. But the unfairness of it all seems a bit much, after all this is a carnival band where the priority of the band leaders was supposed to be that you got the section that you wanted and that you are guaranteed two days of fun and revellery in the sun, not a whose who and a selection committee for a lucky few.
Upset Masquerader.
